See? (This is what I was actually looking for on JP's twitter) How would you fit comfortably in front of the rider? There's a sodding great pommel in the way.

On the plus side, the rider would probably have to hold on to you very tightly to stop you falling off. Silver lining and all that.

Ah yes, I know that gif elk - a little long range for saddle analysis though?

I have found this pic from another episode. I reckon they're using a completely different saddle. I looked over the relevant horse bits in ep 9. We never get a good look at it - it's either draped in Queenie's robes or saddlebags etc, or it's out of shot. It definitely lacks the usual upright back section that you can see in the pic & on the others' saddles plus Aramis is sitting further back than the others which would only be possible with a different saddle. The usual saddle fronts are less of a pommel and more of a ball shield with gun "holster". No way could Queenie sit on that, & his gun is attached further back in this ep. So yes, different saddle which they keep out of shot so no-one can say - 'why would Aramis have a saddle made for two when he doesn't usually?'
