Northumberland and North East Coast. I don't understand why everyone doesn't want to live there tbh.

Not NI if you're English unless you marry in bitter experience you can get what you want in Hants, you're possibly in the wrong part, it's a large county. Staffordshire would fit the bill too.

Scottish Highlands. Huge house with garden and sea view for sale next door to me for 330k. 5-6 bedrooms. Primary 100 yards away and Secondary 2 miles. Station 200 yards. Lovely!

Leicestershire - great transport links to London Birmingham Sheffield and Leeds, very central, lovely market towns and villages, country parks and outdoorsy things to do, 4 bed just about in the 300k bracket. Leicester itself isn't particularly nice - that's the only drawback.

My cousin lives in Ashby-de-la-Zouch (Leics), which despite the Adrian Mole connections is actually a really nice town, with loads of varied housing & quite reasonable prices.
Also good schools.
Also great motorway connections (no trains though. HS2 will pass by, if it happens, but probably won't stop)
Definitely worth serious consideration
