Welcome to Thread 108 Shock of rampant objectification and plot discussion perving over BBC Musketeers and any other HBFs that take your fancy

Pull up a bar stool, be polite to mother superior and she may get you the dirnk of your choice.

There will be a roll call once all wenches are back from their summer hols.

And the perviness of Rochefort was downright creepy. If I want to watch unhinged pyschopaths obsessing over women and killing people I'll watch gritty crime dramas, god knows there's enough of them. Whereas there are not enough shows featuring hbf's in leather being all FAF.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:30

By eck that were tight fun. (No idea why I went all Yorkshire there) I do like mass rewatches though.

Yes Liv Cardinal = complex, Rochefort = Pantomime (even though he tried not to be by giving him spurned love obsession as a motivation)

That episode as A Good Soldier are my favourite Cardinal episodes!

MadamedeChevreuse · 30/08/2015 22:32

Excellent. Who wrote that ep I wonder? Probably the best dialogue there (cardinal's) in the whole show I reckon.

Ep 8 next week - not my fave tbh.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 30/08/2015 22:32

Unfortunately the spurned love just made him appear completely batshit! Grin

I hope the S3 villain is a little more subtle!

FancyFancy · 30/08/2015 22:32

Excellent fun, especially good to have so many wench teams represented - means there's thud in every scene!

MadamedeChevreuse · 30/08/2015 22:33

fancy - word.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:33

On the plus side you'll also get lots of Trev and shouty Athos next week.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 30/08/2015 22:35

Agreed, so mnay good lines in that ep, esp from Cardinal. I suppose we get Capt Trev being all noble next week?

Right, must go & have a shower, am feeling rather grubby after all my earlier exertions!

MiladyBeaWinter · 30/08/2015 22:35

Shouty Athos. Alley snogging. Athos and Dog bonding. Trev action. Petulant Kingy. Dog getting his pauldron.

How is this not one of your favourite episodes? Shock

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:35

Gah - Inconvenient Cat is sure that the best place to put his head is on the touch pad of my laptop. Whilst purring loudly.

You read my mind again helen!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 30/08/2015 22:36

Absolutely - I'm glad he became the Doctor (being a fan of him AND Doctor Who) but they really need to do better in S3. Rochefort was a hottie but the whole psycho bit is very off putting! There was literally nothing good or decent about him and one dimensional characters are always crap.

FancyFancy · 30/08/2015 22:36

And this thread is top of the trending list atm!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:38

Of course it's trending - we're wittering on and need a new thread. Someone else can do it this time.

Spots the lack of the word Aramis in my last post....

Rupert Everett is the baddy in S3 is he not. I'm not sensing subtle tbh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:41

MrsB I don't think I've ever seen Ruper Everett not being camp, so it will be interestin Hmm

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 30/08/2015 22:42

Bea That's what I'm thinking too. It was difficult to replace an actor like PC anyway but they don't seem to have tried very hard.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 30/08/2015 22:44

Next week we have the Cardinal biting his thumb though - that and Dog's pauldron are the best bits Grin

MadamedeChevreuse · 30/08/2015 22:45

Er, yep mrsb, got it in one. Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:46

Marc Warren did psychotic really well, but they didn't give him much else to work with really. With Pc he was a baddie, but he was working for the good of France as he saw it, so wasn't always trying to foil the HBFs. MW was a baddie because he wanted to get Queenie, end of. there was no other dimension.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2015 22:48

Ok, I'm off to bed now - night all.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 30/08/2015 22:53

And I know the Cardinal probably shouldn't have had Adele shot but he thought she was a spy and she betrayed him so he thought he was doing the right thing and she did shag Aramis despite being the mistress of the sexiest man in France

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 30/08/2015 22:54

I would offer to start the new thread but I probably wouldn't be able to resist posting it with a pic of PCap's arse or something Blush

IssyStark · 30/08/2015 22:54

I saw RE as Salieri in Amadeus last year at Chichester, and he was surprising good, and, when required, subtle so I am holding out hope.

Plus there's thingy who was the clockmaker in Larkrise, and training sergeant in the Our Girl pilot, can't remeber his name, but isn't he playing a Parisian underworld baddie?
