Did anyone see the thing on GMTV last week about Bristol (I think) council saying that if parents wanted sun block applied to their children during the school day they would have to get a doctors note. I caught the tail end of this and was surprised at how stupid the council official was and how irrate Dr Hilary was getting.

No I didn't see this. But how ridiculous!! Wasn't there a thing a while back were a little girl got into trouble at school for having sun block to put on before playtime.don't remember the details.
ds's nursery are red hot about sun cream and if your child doesn't have some they are not allowed to play out. Can't believe that will all change at school?

This might have been the one. The mother in question had her kids with her and both looked very pale skinned. I know my childminder asks that all kids are sent with sunblock when the better weather comes in.

DS nursery also ask for sun cream or they're not allowed outside. Unlike medication (calpol) we don't have to check this in or out so I agree it would be silly for schools to insist on this.

IIRC last year dds teacher said they were not allowed to apply it so could we do it in the morning and give them some to take into school labelled etc that the reception children could apply themselves....i didnt bother as i was sure my dd would end up with it in her eyes and everywhere. Those sun creams wipes were used by other parents but they are soooo expensive.
