Can you pack fizzy drinks in checked baggage?

Ds wants to bring home a small bottle of a fizzy drink for a friend (only available in this , the friend's country of origin) .
Will the unpressurized baggage compartment cause it to explode, or something?

Any views before we pack?

I've flown Pepsi max before. It didn't explode but it did go completely flat.

I think you should be ok - it's the same pressurisation in the hold as in the cabin.

Oh, ok!
When we came out I brought some packs of ground coffee, and when I unpacked them they had shrunk tight as if they had been vacuum packed.

This will be one 33cl plastic bottle of a soft drink.

I find that happens with carryon as well a lot of the time? At least for me! (have got used to double bagging my moisturiser....)

I think it'd be fine, but just to be sure I'd seal the bottle in a zip-lock bag (or two) just in case.

I've done it before...due to being so addicted to diet coke I wanted to be sure I had a can available on arrival Blush It was fine and reasonably cool

The hold isn't pressurised throughout. Only certain compartments are pressurised within it, usually for the transportation of live animals for instance.
