My Dad is 70 at the end of May and I want a really nice present ...

I have painted him a picture - so that's the sentimental bit catered for ....

Now I want to give him something he'll appreciate.
He has Prostate Cancer and I have recently realised how much he means to me -

He does not drink and is getting rather old and creaky
Avid bridge player and plays golf intermittently. he loves travelling ....

Not too worried about the budget - just something nice ..... HELP!

If he plays golf, you could always get him some new clubs (is that what theyre called?) or maybe book him a weekend away somewhere if he likes to travel. HTH

My dad is also 70 at the end of May! Will be giving him a birdtable made by my h.

How about membership of the National Trust/English Heritage - that would give him lots of interesting days out.

crystaltips, this is going to sound a bit daft, but as you get older you care so much less for the things you have than for the daily contact with your nearest and dearest...have just asked dh if he was 70 what would he want and he said his family around him.....naff but true, if you really want to get him something why not frame a lovely shot of your family, put it in a nice frame and a picture drawn by your children...sorry not the sort of answer you wanted...or even get him a bottle of his favourite ale/ tipple and sit and open it for him and sit and drink it with him

Clubs ( yes - right word ) is a nice idea - but becuase he is getting more and more creaky ( read immobile ) he might not be able ro get the most use out of them .... thank's tammybear.

As for weekend away - crossed my mind and might look into it - but I was hoping to get something to "keep"

There's a life story kit you can buy- which is for them to either write down- or can be taped... always thought it'd be good on the nostalgia level but also a brilliant momento for the grandkids etc...
Think it's the Life story company (or similar)
Hope that's a bit helpful.
