Some local kids use a bus stop near to our house and they seem to think it is funny to swear at me and my 2 young pre-school children and use V-signs and such like when we leave out house to go out.
This usually happens in the evening and they are not even catching a bus.
I'm sure they are vandalising this bus stop as it is covered in graphitti and the plastic panels have been scratched (council gave up on replacing the glass).
I just feel like a prisoner in my own home, this behaviour starts quite early in the evening 5pm and they can be there up to midnight sometimes.
They seem quite young 10yrs up to 16yr olds.
I just want them to go away, if i complain to the police they will know its me and it will get worse.
Just wish someone could invent a remote-control STINK bomb so that they would clear off.
Any suggestions.

Could you ask the council to move the bus stop as it has become a hang out for local gangs who are intimidating to you and your family??

Do any of your neighbours have the sme problems with them?

WildatHeart · 22/11/2006 21:29

aw ripeberry - that sounds awful.

i quite like the stink bomb idea - any idea what time they get there? watch and find out, then go over and pour a whole pack of vilas all over the place just before they get there (those things linger so dont worry if its early)
if you do that enough days ina row, amybe they'll bugger off elsewhere?

also - i really think you should call the police. or community liason or whatever. the 'authorities' are crap in general, i do agree, but they cant do anything if they dont get any help at all from communities.

WildatHeart · 22/11/2006 21:30

'vilas' should read vials (stink bomb liquid comes in vials) sad that i know that really.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/11/2006 21:34

there must be a way of complaining anonymously.

this is so unfair on you.

am really on your behalf

was on bus with ds (3) last weekend and a small group of yoots were swearing v v loudly.

i looked at the girl in question (it was boys and girls).

one of the little ones said in v catherine tate like voice 'that woman is bad lookin you and giving you de evils.'

nothing changed.

still swearing really loudly.

i turned round and said in my kindest and most conciliatory voice: please can you not swear so loud, i've got a 3 year old with me' and smiled.

they stopped.

is there any way you can talk to them??? when you become a human being, people find it harder to be abusive.

Find out who you local community cop is and speak to them. There are many inititives to stamp out behaviour like this so I am sure the police can keep you ouut of it and blame it on something like that. Explain your concerns.

My MIl has similar problems but keeps calling the police if they are drinking or causing damage. The police come out and the kids get fed up being moved, so have moved on. Keep on at the police too as they get fed up and act just to stop you phoning up .

I always think I'd tell them to get lost but we came across three charmers in Brighton last week. Similar age group to your lot just walking along the street swearing and shouting abuse at everyone. We were in a joke shop and they came in, started touching everything, nicked some coloured hairspray and walked out. I told the guy in the shop and he said he couldn't face the hassle of confronting them.
It must be distressing putting up with that crap everyday. Do you have community wardens in your area?

zookeeper · 22/11/2006 21:49

I think be really really nice to them and smile at one of them, making eye contact. It is galling but if you show aggression they'll thrive on it and make your life a misery. It shuldn't have to be like that and I'd love to thump the little shits on your behalf.

Our local "neds" actually like to say hello. They will swear in front of me but not at me. The teenage ones are the most intimidating but are OK, its the younger ones that are total brats and don't even have that respect.

zookeeper · 23/11/2006 08:32

Maybe ask the older ones to have a word with the younger ones? To the younger ones of course you don't really exist as a human being with feelings and thoughts because you are as adult with children pushing a buggy
