  1. Log on to mumsnet.com
  1. Go to member profiles
  1. Export the pictures you want to send to a folder on your desk top or your documents
  1. Edit the size so it is not more than 100kb, this will generally depend on how big the pic is to begin with.

5.Left click on the image a menu appears right click on "get info" , you can then see the size of the image, if 100k or below then follow steps below

  1. Above the subject window is a "click here" to add image, so click on it
  1. Click on choose file
  1. Choose the folder then the image then click on "choose"
  1. Click on "send file"
  1. Type in your subject and Message and hey presto one photo on mumsnet. Hope this helps.

Are you having trouble creating a photo which is less than 100KB big or having trouble figuring out how to upload it to member profiles ?

Re: point 5 above, if you aren't using a two button mouse, APPLE I (the Apple key with the 'I' key) will reveal the Info on a file (its size is listed, along with other stuff).

If the images are in iPhoto you can export them at any size.

kittywits press ctrl button then click.

This will act as a left mouse click. Hope that helps.

hub2dee, so I don't need to change the size then?

LOL: I don't know how big your pictures are !

MN seems to be able to take images below 50 (or is it 100 ?) KB in size. Tech's script resizes it automatically.

I imagine your photos have been take with a digital camera, so you'd need to reduce them in size.

I would import them into iPhoto (if that isn't where they are already), and then do a Photo / Export from there.

hth.

Ta, yeah that makes sense

You all sorted out, kw ? Did you have fun with iPhoto ?

kittywits · 23/11/2006 19:27

hub2dee I am thanks. i photo and photo booth are fab. The kids love playing around with them. In many ways the mac is so much easier to use than the pc. Thanks for you help

You don't happen to have any babies around 16 months do you ? We could hook the little ones up for an iChat She has an older cousin in San Diego, but the time difference rarely works out LOL.

The mac can take a bit of getting used to; a new user will flounder for the first few days as things are different to the Windows systems they are familiar with, but OS X grows on you and the apps are well-engineered.

Do you have a dot mac account ? (about £69 / year IIRC) If you do it's really easy to make Web sites containing pages of your images and upload them online. You might want to hit the 'iWeb' button at the bottom of iPhoto and play around at some point.

The 'Book' button is also fun too. You can easily create a little book full of your own pics and they come out really well.

And hit slideshow after you've selected 10 - 20 pictures and it'll knock out a perfectly lovely slideshow without too much aggro at all.

Enjoy.

hub2dee, I've lots of kids, none around 16 months at the mo sadly
Wow, that's given me alot to think about. I think you need to play around with these things. My dad has had a mac for years and is really chuffed I've finally got on. There seem to be so many different things i've yet to explore. My boys love the games and I think they are great for teaching them chess etc.
I'll have a think about the web package, it all seems a bit daunting.
thanks for all the great info

Well, us Mac evangelists do try and spread the word, but some people just won't listen. I'm glad you're finding it fun, useful and easy. The books you can print that I mentioned don't need a home printer - Apple prints them and sends them out to you IYSWIM. Believe me, the iWeb / dot mac thing is learnable in 10 minutes. It's quite fun to knock up web pages full of photos etc. so easily.

PS - Ask dh if he is short on cable ?
