Boring washing machine question

Please help! Every few weeks the water stops flowing into the fabric conditioner compartment of the tray in my Bosch Washing machine and I have to pour in water at exactly the right moment. I have cleaned the filter ump-teen times and un-gooked the holes the water should flow out of but it STILL stops working. Have not been able to contact Bosch plus it's about 7yrs old now (but still working well in every other sense).

Any ideas?

Also, how do you descale a washing machine? Where do you put the white vinegar in the tray?(sorry that's two questions isn't it!)

Has anyone else had a similar problem? How did you fix it?

I have this with my Bosch too. I tried descaling with white vinegar - I put it in the drum and the wash compartment of the drawer, then do a boil wash. helps for a bit then problem recurs. Also my washer accumulates a kind of greyish scum that leaves marks on the clothes, which I finally realsied was the residues of fabric conditioner in the drawer and pipes.

My solution (not ideal) has been to stop using fabric conditioner. I use Bounce sheets in the tumble dryer instead. Only now the weather is better and I want to line dry my washing I'm a bit stuck - with no conditioner my washing is very crunchy.

Annoying isn't it? I wouldn't buy a Bosch again

Thanks marthamoo. You describe everything I'm seeing... If I get any answers from Bosch (very very unlikely) I'll let you know!

am sure there has been a thread like this before.....hang on will have a look.

you can put vinegar in any of the soap or conditioner compartments.

Thanks gingerbear - well remembered!

I already do most of the advice on there, soon to be upping the number of 60deg washes cos I'm moving to reusable nappies (trial pack already in use!). I will try a few more 90deg washes (currently do them once every couple of months).

I would love to just take it apart and clean every tube, but I'd prob end up forking out for a new machine!

Thanks also throckenholt.
