Very sorry Katz. DH is in the same position right now. He had to take leave from work to take care of MIL, who only has a few weeks left and is unable to take care of herself. He won't be an orphan, but it will only be him and his dad left, since his brother died a few years ago. I know how hard it is for your DH, and can sympathize with you knowing how hard it is to be in your position and how bad you must feel for your DH and how hard it is you can't stop them from hurting so much.

BudaBeast · 13/11/2006 05:11

Very sorry Katz.

Your poor DH.

foundintranslation · 13/11/2006 06:34

Very sorry for you all, katz. You're in my prayers.

katzg · 13/11/2006 09:18

Thank you all very much, its so nice knowing that there are people out there thinking of us.

DH came back last night and i think he's in shock, although this wasn't totally unexpected. He's gonme back down this morning, to see his Dad and help his Aunt to sort things out.

Sympathies from me too. My FIL died earlier this year. He was elderly and had a long term illness but just died suddenly in the night at home. DH was so upset (sometimes people think that if it was 'expected' or if the person was elderly it will be less upsetting ) I just tried to be around for dh as much as I could and just kept everything going normally so he could focus on himself and his mum. I'll be thinking of you all in the next few weeks. (((((hugs))))

cadbury · 13/11/2006 09:23

Thinking of you all. I've been in your situation too

danceswithmonkeys · 13/11/2006 09:24

Oh gosh, I just read my message back, I didn't mean you thought dh would be any less upset because it was expected, you will be surprised what other people say though. Sorry

earlgrey · 13/11/2006 09:25

Katz, my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

My mum and dad separated a long while, dad was very ill, mum had to go off. My sister and I were with him, and literally minutes later he died.

My mum was devastated. I know how you must be feeling. XXX

katzg · 13/11/2006 09:25

FIL was only 57 but he has been ill for 8 years
