She thinks it would be a good idea and might calm me down. I've already failed 4 due to nerves (not all with same instructor I must add).

She says I drive beaurifully, but lose the plot on test day.

Anyone else doen it with instructor in the back and how did you feel?

I don't feel comfortable with it tbh, but can't really tell you why IYSWIM!

i didnt have my instructor in the back, but if you think it may help i would.

I wouldn't have my instructor...TBH I would feel that they were watching me and it would put me off. I would then feel that if I failed she would turn around and say "well you didn;'t do this and you did this incorrectly" la la la...! TBH I think you will have nerves whether she is there or not..

You need to think positive and have faith in yourself. Positive mental attitude.

Why don't you try something to calm you before hand..? I find that bach rescue remedy usually helps me when I feel gittery etc..?

Good luck. xx

just think positive.

i almost lost it wheni realised my test was going to be on one of my worst practise routes. turned out to be a blessing as its actually part of the way to harefield.

charliecat · 11/11/2006 16:00

Whats going wrong on your tests is it just nerves making you go wrong or?
My instructor wouldnt come with me, said what do you want me glaring at the back of your head for...it wont help....and it wouldnt have really would it?
You WILL get it ones of these days you know!

northerner · 11/11/2006 16:00

TRying to think positive. I know I can bloomin drive. Just need to prove it to the examiner.

Hope this time I don't try to open the wrong car, trap my thumb in teh bonnet, hyperventilate and have shaky clutch leg

I tried to get in the passenger side the day i passed

pesha · 11/11/2006 16:12

I think its up to you really, i didnt want my instuctor in with me but i know she sat in on quite a few tests.

I failed my first test cos i was so nervous and made stupid mistakes. It was at half 3 and i spent all day worrying about it but my second test was about half 8am and i think that really helped cos i just got up and got on with it, didnt have the time to work myself up into a state.

shhhh · 11/11/2006 16:55

would a bottle of vodka beforehand help to settle those nerves ..!!??

NAB3 · 11/11/2006 17:01

If you don't feel comfortable with it, there is your answer.

I passed on my second attempt and didn't have the instructor either time.

girrafey · 12/11/2006 07:47

hi there. i passed last month and i was really nervous so asked about what i could take and was told NEVER take calms before a test. apparently it numbs down part of your brian which will then make your reactions slower. I decided to go cold turkey and passed with 2 minors.
i wanted my instructor in the back, but she actually had the statistics printed out for me, and there is a higher fail rate if yur instructor is with you than if you go on your own. so again i went with out.
I know everyone is different but thought i would tell you my experience.

by the way i was so sure i had failed that i actually cried when he told me! good luck. x

I put on my work uniform even though I wasn't working that day, I was getting all worked up worrying what to wear and decided I am always more confident at work so thought why not. I just went in to work mode and din't even flap when I discovered the instructors brand new not tested car wasn,t quite right. You couldn't put in into first gear from neutral and the clutch sat at a different height than the car I had been learning in, But i took control, had a go at my instructor and explained to the examiner that the dual control had just been fitted and was sticking, he was fine about it and I only got 2 minor faults in total.

Skribble · 12/11/2006 22:26

Oh and go easy on the rescue remedy it contains alcohol, ok ot enough to put you over the limit or anything but can leave your breath a bit boozy.

Smurfgirl · 12/11/2006 22:34

I just read this as

Driving test: Should I have INTERCOURSE in the car?

Personally I would not, but if it works for you I will def try it - could be reassuring?

southeastastra · 12/11/2006 22:52

just keep on! don't worry it does click iykwim and then you'll pass! my instructor in the car would have put me off more i think!
