...hairdresser said this is the best way to do it, and that he should have another 2 cuts like that so that his hair grows well. Is she right? Looks a bit extreme...

Aaah - plenty of time to grow (and lose) it!

Taking in consideration that my brother was bald at 21! My dad is bald, all my uncles are bald (8 of them) and...My DH has a full head of thick dark chocolate brown hair in a pony no less!

Cece, fair point. I bet a hairdresser wouldn't use clippers on a girl.

Also our hairdresser won't use clippers on young children anyway.

I agree a clipper cut is extreme, but what i hate the most is little boys with long hair! you cant tell they are a boy, my SIL had her ds with long curls it drove me mad!! i personally cannot wait till my ds is old enough to get a proper boys cut.

FrannyonFire · 04/11/2006 21:52

Why do you hate it, pucca?

pucca · 04/11/2006 21:59

Dunno, just personal opinion i suppose, don't mean to offend though

BIGlilBUBU · 04/11/2006 22:00

Isn't it ment to be good to leave girls hair without cutting it for as long as possible?? I heard it grows with a balm around it then when you cut it the hair starts to split.
Now I can't remember who or when I heard this but I believed who ever told me and believed it ever since, so will be highly embarrassed if it turns out to be a load of twaddle.

sleepysooz · 04/11/2006 22:06

Each to their own I suppose, but there would be world war 3 if my DH did something like that to my precious, beautiful twins hair, DS has more hair than DD but DD has none!

My first DS (now 10yo) had blonde ringlets (don't know who from) sitting on his shoulders, he looked a complete angel, silly remarks from family made me cut them off and I lost my Angel and a thug appeared!

Rubbish about hair growing back better! I'd shave your DH hair whilst he's asleep!

prettymum · 04/11/2006 22:14

yup, bengali culture believe in this too. they always shave hair to make hair grow back thicker.

also in islam (from what i was taught), you have to shave first baby hair

misdee · 05/11/2006 14:49

in some cultures, dont they shave the babies hair and weigh it then make a payment to their church-type place? if so, we would've been skint after dd2+3 lol.
