i have just recieved an email from paypal asking me verify my account, my account is verified.

Is this a fake and therefore should i report it to Paypal the email address used is
[email protected]

and says
As you know, it's free to send money with PayPal. It's also a safe way to buy and sell online. That's why the more you use PayPal, the more we may stop and ask you to complete additional security steps that enable you to continue using our service.

One of these steps is to set up bank funding. Another is to accept a phone call from us that confirms your location.

Learn more about how to get 'Verified' and to build trust in the PayPal community.

Once you've completed these steps and become 'Verified' your account will no longer have limits and you'll be eligible for Seller Protection. As a verified PayPal member, if you sell items on eBay, you may be eligible to offer Buyer Protection at no additional cost.

Sorry PF - am I being thick or are you saying that my paypal account could be compromised because of this email I received? Do I need to change passwords etc as a result?

TIA

Why was my 11.24 post deleted? What did it say????

Two hoots, I actually logged in off a link on the email I got - stupid or what??? So if it is a fake, the orginators would have seen what my log-in was.

If you've read yours, but not done anything with it, then you are OK.

Oh thanks I just deleted mine straight away. DH got a spoof email from 'our bank' last night. He spotted the www address it was coming from was wrong - looked v real though!

DP and i share an ebay account, that connects up with his email address.. he got loads of these from ebay AND paypal. we fell for first two, but luckily i sotted the mistake 5minutes after so managed to change pw in time.. i hope.. what i find amusing is that there is not a paypal or ebay account set up to MY email address, but i still get the same poxy message! always makes me chuckle.. im like 'erm i think not.. not at this addy buddy !' (blimey, i need to shut up now..)

I received a fake one yesterday. It wasn't addressed to me by name... so I forwarded it on to spoof. who acknowledged it was a spoof...

But also got a real one from paypal at the same time, which was addressed to me by name, but didn't ask for details etc.

I am quite concerned that a spoof one should arrive exactly the same time as a real one.. Do they somehow have access to the emails that are being sent out for real????

If I had send the real one first, I may have actually believed the fake one, but luckily. I know not to give any info this way....

Im getting ebay ones today too. They have asked me to send it again with headers on as it helps them figure out where it originated from.
