about once every 2 months for downstirs
more often if they have sticky prints all over them
upstairs when i can be arsed

Iklboo · 01/11/2006 14:23

You can CLEAN windows?????
Er...I don't. DH does the insides every couple of months (my excuse - I can't safely reach the tops of any of them). Window cleaner does the outsides

earlgrey · 01/11/2006 14:25

We've been here eight years now, and I asked the window cleaners that very question.

'Cos we've got secondary double glazing, he said it would be cheaper to replace the windows.

'Nuff said

Cassoulet · 01/11/2006 14:25

Moved in in December, haven't done it yet.

Excuse, having loads of external work done which messes them up immediately so wait until that's finished. Anyway, I can't reach them.

southeastastra · 01/11/2006 14:31

when they're dirty or i can't stand to look at the pigeons imprints left as they fly into them by mistake.

comeoveneer · 01/11/2006 14:35

Inside downstairs weekly. Ds loves climbing on the sofa and shoving sticky fingerprints all over. Upstairs inside when ever they look like they need it. Outside once every 6 months or so when I collar our neighbours window cleaner.

Piffle · 01/11/2006 14:37

monthly for most, but living room and kitchen wekly sometimes more.
I use lakeland squeegee off in a spray bottle, wipe off with E cloth
great results minimum work

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 01/11/2006 14:37

Never in 6yrs at my old house but since moving have discovered how satisfying window cleaning is. Can't imagine needing to do it more than twice a year though.

Piffle · 01/11/2006 14:37

oh do you mean outside
man comes once a month
£7 bargain

OneMan · 01/11/2006 14:41

I love clean window, probably clean every two weeks.. How do you lot see out??

SSSandy · 01/11/2006 14:42

When I'm having a party and the curtains won't be drawn.

Notquitesotiredmum · 01/11/2006 16:06

Inside or out???

Out - well erm - never - once every few months I'll grab the local window cleaner to do them for me - he charges about £7 for the lot.

Inside - when they get so mucky I can't bear looking at them.

That usually means - bedroom windows.......ermm don't think I've cleaned these ones since we moved in (2yrs ago). Lounge - usually once a year when I decide to take the curtains and voiles (sorry we have to have them the street is only ft away!) down to clean them and put the Christmas decorations on the window.

Bathroom window - once in a blue moon - we have a large blind that's kept down most of the time and I can never be ar*ed.

Kitchen - a little more frequently - probably 4/5 months.

Kittypickle · 01/11/2006 16:13

A fair amount as we've got huge ones dotted around the place that attract DS and his yoghurty hands like a magnet. We've got some secondary glazing upstairs and I can't work out how to clean that though. I have window cleaners mate (or something like that ) & a squeegee thingy, which makes it very easy.

Lio · 01/11/2006 16:13

Annually or maybe biannually. Keeping schtum on whether that means twice a year or once every two years .

estobi1 · 01/11/2006 16:21

I have had a few poor attempts since we moved into our house last november and I really do mean a bit of a wipe with a bit of loo roll once or twice. However, to my amusement and embarrassment i noticed that when my mil stayed this weekend she drew a little swirl in the dirt on the window in her bedroom - oops!

I just forget to buy windowlene and I am a lazy cow! Anyone got any good tips on how to do it without getting them all smeary and taking two weeks to get it off? Otherwise I was thinking about asking the window cleaner to do the inside as well (looks a bit slovenly I thought!)

Bozza · 01/11/2006 16:22

Once a year ish.

Notquitesotiredmum · 01/11/2006 19:19

Hi Estobi1

I think a little warm water with lemon juice in is supposed to be good for removing smears . . .I'll test it on a small spot sometime and let you know.

Oneman - I don't often have time to look out of my windows! However, I think that there is an optimum amount of dirt you can get on the outside, like on the car. It doesn't keep on getting dirtier. After a month or so, I think that it stabilises and so any new dirt falls off! (excepting bird poo, which is a bit stickier, of course . . . )

G'night all.
