Would 19 feet by 60 feet be big enough for a dance studio?

Or is it too narrow?

I can't visualise it

TIA
KMc

it depends on how many people will be in it and their spacing, and what else will be in there ie any benches/chairs.

It does sound quite narrow but ANY size dance studio is better than none!

i could be wrong though

Katymac · 28/10/2006 21:26

I could put the tables/chairs at either end?

I know what you mean about any better than none

my bedroom when i lived at home was 15' by 13' so adding a bit on to the longest wall seems quite narrow (in fact my lounge is prob longer than 19 foot but not by much)

Have you found somewhere to buy/rent? whats the height of the ceiling? thinking of you adding a sprung floor and it being a low ceiling!

Katymac · 28/10/2006 21:34

Well this barn I am (maybe) converting could (maybe) have a second floor.....the head height would be about that size (with eaves - unusable)

so if I put the second floor in I construct it as I wanted...I'm thinking wood...maybe sprung? dependant on cost

is it for yourself? am very jealous if it is ! where will it be? you can be vague and just giove me the county if you like lol

have no more advice on the size front other than it will be narrow i think. is that the space for the dance floor or the whole floor space? because you will have to include changing rooms as well and toilets etc

Katymac · 28/10/2006 21:43

Yep

I could put the loos at one end and the kitchenette at the other - I don't think I could run to showers & changing rooms ect

It's in East Norfolk (by Acle)

I think it would be for my DH to do dance classes in and maybe to hire out if anyone else wanted it - maybe for children's classes?

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 28/10/2006 21:56

you would need changin rooms, especially if its your DH that will be teaching, i think if you are planning on having a mixture of sexes in there there needs to be some sort of changing area. why do you need a kitchette?

awww shame u live so far away i was going to offer to come and test it out g

Katymac · 28/10/2006 21:57

For drinks (water & stuff)

You can come & dance - I think it will be different type tho'

Is this another project or in the nursery?

MerlinsBeard · 28/10/2006 21:58

Katymac · 28/10/2006 21:59

OP posts:
Katymac · 28/10/2006 21:59

Well you don't normally get changed for ballroom, line or salsa

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 28/10/2006 21:59

upstairs in the nursery? sorry am a tad lost

Katymac · 28/10/2006 22:01

Well downstairs there (might) be a nursery & upstairs (maybe) a dance studio

Maybe?

OP posts:
Katymac · 28/10/2006 22:11

Maybe?

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 28/10/2006 22:14

if thats the case you DEFinatly need reinforced sprung floors if you have a dance studio. i would still find it a bit odd if my child/ren went threre and there was a dance school above, i would worry about the noise

Katymac · 28/10/2006 22:16

It would prob be evenings & weekends (Dh will be working in the nursery daytime)

It just gets scarier doesn't it.

What bugs me is both the shop units I was interested in are still empty, I just don't have the balls or finances of my own to go for it, or the child care for that matter .

Katymac · 28/10/2006 23:46

Childcare - can you find a C/Mer?

Shop can you approach them and say it empty atm - wouldn't you rather it was used (even if at a lower rent)?

How old are you can you get princes trust money?(under 25?)

or there are website you can go on to find out if your area is deprived & you can get grants?

OP posts:
Skribble · 28/10/2006 23:51

Over 25, got a grant when I first started up.

Up until lastyear there were no childminders in the village, now there are 2, so no might not have a place for after schoolies when I need it.

One shop has such a low rent it seems criminal that it is still empty, opposite a little traditional tea shop so I imagined getting them to provide food for parties and doing toddler afternoons and all sorts.

If I could sell ideas I would make a fortune.
