housing - mould/damp??

Hi. I currently live in private accomodation with my dh and two children under five. As the weather has been getting colder lately, our house is getting damp on all the outside walls. Our landlord won't fix it as it would cost a fortune to repoint the walls, etc. So my question is, if I go for council housing, will my application move through quicker due to this problem or does damp/mou;d not really matter???

Thanks, in advance, for your replies.

TBH the fact that the property is damp won't make enough difference, as they will say that you are still adequatly housed, not overcrowded, under occupying etc etc.

I lived in a housing association flat that was damp, think I got awarded an extra 10 points for that. We were overcrowded and also had medical points and points for suffering from anti social behaviour and it still took them nearly 2 years to move us.

I'm sure your landlord has to do a certain amount of repairs. I would try contacting CAB to see if there is anything you can do to make your landlord to the repair.
