Hi
DH has just asked what he should take to India for wife of colleague in Chennai who took him on a big shopping trip for jewellry/saris for me and the children. All I know is she's smart and professional (an accountant I think) and has no children.
Will obviously send thank you note etc but would really appreciate ideas of something v English to send with him on Sunday.
Many thanks.

tins of shortbread etc, traditional style food with nice packaging? jars of jam and if you want something more lasting, a jam spoon;

pot pourri/ lavender bags etc, obviously with herbs and scents that won't grow in Asia?

something like a Melyn Tregwynt (sp?) welsh wool scarf

a tea set? Indians love their tea and an english one would prob go down well with a posh indian.

I am guessing tho, the only indians we send gifts for are poor and want walkmans!

I'd go for something made or inspired locally to you be it handicraft / book / music / food / clothes accessory

something from Liberty?

swedishmum · 26/10/2006 23:23

Thank you. Lots of good ideas. Can't get to Liberty by then - prob only Canterbury or Bluewater. Maybe teacups by a local pottery from a posh tourist shop in Canterbury? They must have some - it's tourism central.

Thorntons chocolates,perfume or a bottle of brandy(or good wine) are usually a hit with everyone. China(teaset, dessert bowls etc) also good but obviously harder to carry due to them being breakable.
