Questions about child modelling

I decided to send my daughter's photo off to some modelling agencies... I've so far had a couple of positive replies. I know there are a few mums here who have their children signed to modelling agencies and would like some advice.

Do agencies generally take on lots of children?
(I want to assess if I should be pleased they have shown interest in my DD, or whether I'm about to be ripped off because most people get offered a contract).

Is most work midweek?
(I'm worried about how it will affect her schooling - if there was a lot of work.)

How many castings/jobs have you got since joining your agency?

Many thanks.

Not at all.

there is a child modelling thread on here. My ds is with MOT models which are a fantatsic agency. He is school age, so we only do stuff outside of school hours, and when he wants to. Some people are happy to take their kids out of school though.
My advice to you would be to send your pics to recommended agencies only.
Don't pay any money for them to have the privilege of assessing your child before they offer them a contract.
Don't may hideous amount of money for photos. I haven't paid for any and ds is always being offered castings and had done some jobs.
If you live outside London, be prepared to travel there lots. We don't do castings as the cost of getting there comes out of your pocket and they may not get the job. A lot of companies like toysrus etc will do a booking straight from a photo.
Be prepared for some waiting about, take food and toys etc.
and most importantly, enjoy! DS and I love our little jaunts out alone. hth and look a modelling thread

another tip, preview your posts for poor spelling and language.

DarkAlleyBongo · 27/10/2006 09:03

i have managed to throw the stereotype of bimbos on moggelling threads by my fantastic spelling and creative use of the english language see down there...

Thank you, I'm pleased to hear it can be manageable outside school hours.
I'll search for the proper thread now!
