Our receptionist phoned in sick today after not being allowed to go home early yesterday we expected it!
She has a second job in a social club and I have just been sad enough to drive past it to see if her car was there.
It was but I don't think there is anyway of proving it to anyone anyway
My boss suspects that she would be there though

tell her you saw her car lazy moo!

LadyDooM · 25/10/2006 22:03

Take your digital camera and snap away..lol

but beware of the next time you call in sick when your not.. karma ...

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 25/10/2006 22:13

lol I was tempted!!!

I wouldn't be stupid enough to do anything like that! (and I don't have 2 jobs!)

She's a receptionist, ffs, not the f*cking CEO.

Why do you give a toss?

For real?

My philosophy has always been that if you have enough time to worry about what other employees are up to, you don't have enough to do.

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 25/10/2006 22:15

I agree with expat.

expatinscotland · 25/10/2006 22:16

In reference to the OP, yeah, you are.

I mean, stalking the receptionist?

Man, that's whacked.

NatalieJane · 25/10/2006 22:16

Agree with Expat.

She might have felt better by the evening, and didn't want to let her boss there down?

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 25/10/2006 22:19

Because her second job has been affecting her main one yes she is the receptionist but she is also our main typist this week too it bothers me because I have work stacking up because I end up having to do her job

OP posts:
ledodgywizardrobespierre · 25/10/2006 22:21

so maybe she felt better tonight. It's one thing not being happy about her work but another thing driving past her second job to see if she's there. Maybe she's exhausted because she has to do two jobs to make ends meet.

expatinscotland · 25/10/2006 22:22

So you go round stalking her during off-duty hours?

I see employment tribunal in your future if you carry on like this.

Ever thought about having a chat w/her about it rather than spending your evening stalking her?

What are you, a benefits fraud detective?

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 25/10/2006 22:24

Part of it was that I was asked to by the boss - she has been coughing loads and kept blaming it on the start of flu that all her friends have had which isn't helped by her standing out all night on a sunday watching boy racers.
I'm sorry but if I felt bad enough not to go to my main job in a office I wouldn't got to a smoky pub to stand up all night.
Oh well I'll remember that when I'm off sick next

OP posts:
southeastastra · 25/10/2006 22:26

she if she calls in sick tomorrow

badkarma · 25/10/2006 22:27

Sure isn't it her who's wages will be down next wk and not yours? What's it got to do with you wether she stands out all night and watches boy racers or not you sound a wee bit jealous

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 25/10/2006 22:28

I couldn't think of anything worse than watching people ruin their cars and trying to kill themselves & other road users

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 25/10/2006 22:29

LOL!

You lot are sad.

The boss doesn't have anything better to do than be bothered about the off-hours activities of the receptionist, ffs.

And sends her lackey to do her dirty work.

So she catches a cold and it's somehow her fault b/c she wasn't as virtuous as you are in your evening hours.

She doesn't have time to spend MNing and driving around stalking fellow employees b/c she obviously gets paid so little she has to take a second job.

And, newsflash! When you work an office job, and you need a second income, a pub is probably going to be the place that accommodates your hours.

Another bulletin: smoking is still legal in English and Welsh pubs, so it's not like she has a lot of choice but to breath in smoke from the punters.

This has to be wind up.

There honestly cannot be people this pitiful IRL.

expatinscotland · 25/10/2006 22:30

Last I heard, driving around in your car is legal, too, although some might construe it as boy racing.

Get a life!

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 25/10/2006 22:37

"she has been coughing loads and kept blaming it on the start of flu that all her friends have had which isn't helped by her standing out all night on a sunday watching boy racers."

What has it got to do with you what she does of a weekend?

southeastastra · 25/10/2006 22:38

is she off sick alot

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 25/10/2006 22:43

yes she is at least once a month.
Both partners of the firm have warned her about her work rate as it hasn't been up to standard for a while.
I think the whole thread came out in a way t wasn't meant to
I know it has nothing to do with me what she does at the weekend but I have to sit there every Monday listening to how knackered she is and dealing with complaints about her

OP posts:
lulumama · 25/10/2006 22:45

how old is she...she sounds young...but if she is working two jobs ,,she must need the money....and if she is burning the candle at both ends she must be knackered and ill

instead of your boss asking you to follow her...why not have a chat to her...encourage her...

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 25/10/2006 22:45

I know it must be a pain but let your bosses deal with it if she carries on being off alot they will get rid of her, no point you stressing over it.

badkarma · 25/10/2006 22:46

You don't really have to.. tell them what she does of a weekend is no concern of yours and smile. What part do you play in this company? Are you merely a workmate of hers? Or a senior partner....... if you're a workmate I would hate you to be my workmate of you were running about watching me on purpose!! OTOH if you were her boss and a partner or something I might be able to understand it. Basically if you are her workmate then your loyalties lie with her and not your boss. Just mho though!

southeastastra · 25/10/2006 22:46

it is stressful though if you have to keep covering for her.

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 25/10/2006 22:59

I am the office manager and do the accounts and I am her reporting manager so not really a workmate
She is argumentative and defensive and she has been making a lot of mistakes.
People have tried talking to her and letting her know that her second job is starting to affect this one.

OP posts:
lulumama · 25/10/2006 23:01

has she had a verbal warning or any sort of disciplinary action?
