vaguely amusing moral dilemma

a couple of weeks ago a mum at school was having a moan about her ds's lost jumper. It had been missing for a couple of days and she "STILL hadn't got it back". to be perfectly honest I didn;t really see what the big deal was - she had a spare - but she was clearly annoyed with the teacher who hadn't got round to putting a notice up in the window, and thought it was impossible for people not to notice they'd got the wrong one. I just kind of nodded and vaguely tried to defend the teacher and us lesser mortals who might not be quite so on the ball. in a wishy-washy sort of I agree with you really kind of way.

Guess what I;ve just found?

so - do I admit it? or just sneak it back after half-term?

Put it on his peg after half term!

Marina · 25/10/2006 20:39

Normally I'd say fess up but I think in the circs sneaking it back discreetly might be wiser.
Will say tho that we don't do a uniform wash every night of the week so can understand her angst about losing 50% of her jumpers, so to speak. Just not the fuss she made about it...

LIZS · 25/10/2006 20:39

oops , take it back to the teacher and say it appeared in your ds' bag after they'd cleared up for half term.

Made me roar - I have half of my son's nurseries spare clothes where I just haven't got round to ironing them all!!!!

Just sneak it in!!!

Rhubarb · 25/10/2006 20:40

Sneak it in his bag! Or pop it anonymously though the school letter box with a note, made out of cut-out newspaper words!

BATtymumma · 25/10/2006 20:40

agree get up early and then put it on the peg before school. make it look like a cleaner had found it or somethng

hatwoman · 25/10/2006 20:46

pmsl at rhubarb! I wonder if I could just drop it on the pavement outside her house....thta would be a bit freaky.

marina - surely no-one washes uniform every night? it's precisely my lack of washing vigour that got me in this pickle...

Take it into the school office and say you found it on the street on the last day, and have washed it and neatly ironed it for the new term! There is no way she can argue with that one.

Hatwoman, you are clearly not the proud owner of a champion gravy-snorkeller like ds . Dd at three is a neater eater. His jumpers are a shocker.

hatwoman I would be horrified if DS was down to one set of uniform. When he is with the CM (3x/week) he goes playing on the field and dives around in the muddy, puddled area in the goal mouth. His jumpers frequently come home muddy, as well as covered in lunch and glue/paint etc. However he does have more than 2 because I kept last year's for emergencies. We have an emergency every week.

Definately sneak.

I'd be p*ssed off that it was lost, but not because no-one was doing anything about finding it.
