My DD(10) attends a large local gymnastics club and DH normally picks her up after. This wk I picked her up and was taken back by the dress of some of the older boys who share the same gym space. This boys aged probably between 14-17 have very well developed muscular bodies, however they do not wear any gym vest/tops etc Its a large gym area with several classes going on at once. I am right to feel a little weird about them parading around like this in full view of young girls and boys. Would love to hear your thoughts.

To be fair OP you did start by saying you were right to feel weird, and then asked for our thoughts.
I, along with many others do not think you are right to feel weird. Your comment specifically referred to this happening in full view of young girls and boys. I cannot see any problem with gymnasts not having a top on whilst in the gym, even if younger gymnasts are present. As others have said, it is the same as the swimming pool or the beach. You asked for our views - you got them Confused

DD is also a gymnast, and is at a big gym 4 days a week to train, there's a similar scenario. Have to say it doesn't bother me, or her. It is how it is. The top boys train sans top sometimes, but we're talking acrobatic gymnastics where a loose top/tshirt might be a pain when you're upside down and it falls over your face!! Some of the younger lads age 6+ have followed suit and just wear shorts to train in. Neither is cause for much comment, if they're coaching others they're in an appropriate t-shirt. Only issue is sometimes I feel cold watching them train without a vest on, but that's because I'm sat on my butt for up to three hours....

But it is the same as swimming - there is no practical reason to have a naked torso is there, otherwise female swimmers would be topless.

The reason they are not topless is because it is considered indecent for a female to expose her top half. It is not considered indecent for a male to expose his top half, therefore male swimmers and gymnasts can swim, do gym, walk, run, jump etc without any fear of being accused of being indecent, except by you OP.

Maybe you shouldn't be ogling teenage boys' bodies Grin

Wearing a top of any description is covering up. There's nothing else to be gained by doing it, it doesn't improve their skill in any way.

Stop moaning about 'being attacked'. You asked if you were right to feel weird. People are telling you that aren't, there's nothing wrong with what the boys are doing.

Ok. I think I have my answer and I appreciate everyone's time in responding. Seeline /ChippingInLatteLover maybe I just need to grow and thicker skin if I am going to post here, but as my first experience of this type of thing, it all felt a bit personal.

What harm do you suppose seeing a, gasp, naked male chest, at a gymnasium, is going to do exactly?

Probably the same sort of harm that would be done by seeing naked female arms, shoulders and/or back at a formal evening function, while all the males are covered up.
