There are 20 boys DD1's class and the invites are starting to come through already.

Can I please have your gift ideas for boys - no more than £10 a present, the cheaper the better as there are 20 boys and 10 girls and a lot of parties coming up!

TIA

cremolafoam · 16/10/2006 17:46

cupsnakes · 16/10/2006 17:48

what age?
I find lego always popular - bionicles, knights etc.

like this

MerlinsBeard · 16/10/2006 17:48

depends on age but cars things are popular at the moment (and will be for a while i guess) wooden trains and track from tesco are quite cheap and a good one for younger boys.

WelshBoris · 16/10/2006 17:49

We bought some cheapy walkie-talkies for one of DD's classmates (age6/7) that went down well.

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 16/10/2006 17:52

for 5 yo
dinosaurs
hot wheels tracks

curlew · 16/10/2006 18:10

Torches.

Anything from Tesco so that they can take it back and change it. Toys, obviously - I'm not suggesting half a kilo of bacon!

Ditto Woolworths.

My 5 year old can't have too many Hot Wheels cars.

Glittery T shirts and hair accessories for girls.

Bubble making stuff for both sexes.

You're very generous,BTW - I try to keep it to about a fiver.

JoPG · 16/10/2006 18:30

lol at bacon as a present.
Now if it was a family bag of skips and some haribo starmix I'm sure DS would be very happy. Organic carrots, maybe not so happy!

gingernut · 16/10/2006 18:53

I guess you mean 5y.o. boys?

I would opt for cars stuff or lego, unless you know the child is really into something specific (e.g. Spiderman).

(My ds1 is the same age as your dd1 BTW ThomBat, and those are the things he and most of his classmates would like).

southeastastralplain · 16/10/2006 18:55

dr who figures, shoot out trading cards, star wars things, board games.

When my DS was 5 he loved anything to do with Scooby Doo!

gingernut · 16/10/2006 20:49

cod I mean specifically Disney Cars (Lightning McQueen and co), do you mean that or cars generally? They are all different aren't they? Mine isn't fussed about dinosaurs.

Pinkchampagne · 16/10/2006 20:55

Both my boys are very much into the Disney cars atm! My sister bought DS1 a cars jigsaw for part of his birthday present & he spends ages doing them. I think they were £5.00 in ELC.

Cod 5yo DS has about 6 leather footballs that he is not allowed to play with in the garden because of how destructive they are. He really doesn't need any more. Although he is currently reduced to playing with a sponge one because he has punctured one of his plastic ones and lost the other one in the undergrowth that is next door's garden, and in my slippers I wasn't prepared to go searching for it.

DS loves hot wheels cars, lego, knights (just saved up for the £10 set of 5 from ELC) and that kind of thing.

TBH I would be tempted to go on the Book People website and buy a pack of 10 Horrid Henry books for £10, split it to one or two books per child and maybe stick a Hot Wheels car in with it and voila you are sorted - two books and a car for less than a fiver.

TinyGang · 17/10/2006 09:21

Boys like torches (well my 5 yr old ds does). Or a radio.
