Does anybody else suffer from pre-birthday party anxiety?

It's dd2's party tomorrow.
I'm feeling anxious, stupidly, because I keep wondering whether everybody will turn up. Am worried that if not I have a/wasted money b/a disappointed dd2.
Dh says I'm being stupid, that dd2 will enjoy herself whatever.
I am particularly hoping that her special boyfriend from playgroup will turn up - it's so cute how much she adores this boy!

hahahahahahahahahahah

have just had dd2's

I was a bit of a wreck actually - like you, with a small baby and wanting everything to go well for her as she is such a social bunny.

It did go well btw but I feel your pain

emkana · 14/10/2006 20:39

God I wish it was tomorrow night already...

I am sooooooooooooo enjoying this wine I can tell you

I was nearly in tears earlier though

how old is your dd2?

Surfermum · 14/10/2006 20:42

Yes! And dd's was practically organised for me. I just had to turn up to a soft play centre with a cake.

emkana · 14/10/2006 20:47

She's three now.

I actually feel bad that her party is at a soft play place, dd1 had her third and fourth birthday party at a church hall with games etc.
but I just couldn't face it with ds atm and everything.
Dd's just helped me fill the party bags before going to bed though, and I think they enjoyed that.
Dd2 has complained that there will be no dancing, and even that makes me feel bad...
I'm pathetic.

ah 'no dancing' that is so sweet

emkana, she will have a GREAT time

twinsetandpearls · 14/10/2006 20:50

Are you sure there will be no dancing, our soft play place takes them to a party room for games dancing. Whatever it will be wonderful.

I get stressed before dd parties as I tend to be over amibitious but love them all the same.

twinsetandpearls · 14/10/2006 20:50

To be honest at 3 they probably would get bored by dancing very quick soft play is the nore fun option at that age.

emkana · 14/10/2006 20:51

No dancing, just playing in soft play and food.

I have told dd2 she can dance if she wants to, she'll just have to sing to provide the music.

Enid - why were you almost in tears?

emkana · 14/10/2006 20:52

twinsetandpearls, thanks for that!

tbh at dd1's third b'day party I quickly gave up trying to do games etc because they were just too young.

I will do a "proper" party for her next year though (proper in the way I imagine it, that is)

earlybird - struggling with the awkward folding tables and chairs in the village hall while dd3 bawled her head off

Earlybird · 14/10/2006 20:55

You're a brave woman, and I know that awful "hot" feeling of starting to lose it under pressure. Glad it all went well in the end.

emkana · 15/10/2006 19:09

It went well, a good time was had by all and all the guests turned up - including dd2's beloved!

Don't have to worry about parties now until May, when it's dd1's turn - yeah!
