Hi
Dh and his friend are moving the piano and it's stuck in the hall. Can they put in on its end without causing too much damage? It's not a Steinway btw!
Wd appreciate a quick answer as dh's friend is currently stuck!

Thanks

YOu can but you'll probably have to get it retuned!!

We always use a professional mover for this reason!

TheUnholyTrinity · 14/10/2006 12:35

lol sorry laughing at dh's friend being stuck
yeah I reckon you can put it on it's end with no problem but may need tuning

swedishmum · 14/10/2006 12:40

Thanks. Needs retuning anyway! There - dh was cynical about the powers of mumsnet but he's beginning to see the light. Off to make some PG Tips!!

You need to get it tuned after you've moved it anyway. Ours went on its end and is OK (would never have got it out of our last house without doing that ).

PretendFriend · 14/10/2006 12:41

My friend the expert piano mover always does it with them upended

(And they always need tuning after a move however it's done)

IdrisTheDragon · 14/10/2006 12:42

Are they still stuck?

swedishmum · 14/10/2006 12:58

Friend is now free while dh has gone to shed to look for supplies and equipment (!!) - nothing's ever simple in our house... They are discussing strategies (the problem is getting it round the bottom of the staircase) so they will probably be some time

Could they manoeuvre a plastic sheet and then a blanket underneath it? (Easier said than done ) Then they could drag it.

Safely in place now, so I'll phone the tuner on Monday. Thanks everyone.
