receiving a recorded delivery letter...

Today my dh received a letter which was recorded delivery. Dh was out so I had to sign for it which was fine as we'd been expecting it anyway.

But I noted that Dh's first name on the letter was spelt wrong.

It got me thinking, just out of manic curiosity could I have refused to sign for this because dh's name was spelt wrong? Plus should I have been signing for something not addressed to me?

what would have happened if I'd refused would the post office just have sent it back to the sender?

just want to point out that I wouldn't have done any of the above because we were expecting the letter but just curious.

recorded delivery is not such a big deal for the post office as special delivery...recorded items are not insured so the post office dont worry...just as long as somebody signs for it so they can prove they delivered it. It is for legal documents/job applications etc etc.

I came home the other day to find my postman had left a parcel for me on my drive!!! anyone could have walked off with it!! what a disgrace.
