my next door neighbour plans to change his home to provide respite care for sick/disabled children. i know they will be employing some staff there.ive had a letter from the council.
how will this affect me living next door? does anybody know? i do feel kind of selfish asking these questions

not sure but would think you would be in for noise whilst any alterations are made. is he having more that one at a time.
can't you just ask him?

It might affect parking - we childmind & the neighbours all complain about parking - which would be OK except the cars that are in the way don't belong to my children's parents....we just get the blame

It might also affect the amount they use the garden - again we get the blame for all the noise in the summer holidays and the 3 teenagers next door but one with their trampoline get ignored

If you are going to object - think carefully about your wording as your neighbour will be told what has been said (even if unofficially)

Hope you find a solution

btw I don't think you are selfish asking - I think it is realistic and sensible to question how it will affect you.

I don't think you can object on grounds that there would be noise/incovenience during the renovations. Parking (perhaps this may cause obstruction), noise of additional people coming and going, physical alterations which may affect your property (overlooking windows, light) or may not be in keeping with the area(especially in conservation area). Do you want to object though ?
