ach who cares

honestly truly .. do people count stuff like this out ... really?

I don't salt most of our cooking and give them a varied healthy diet with lots of veg (unsalted) and fruit

but I'll give my 2 year old some crisps at times and obviously there's salt in some stews / stocks / breads / cakes etc

lol twig! Thats what i thought as i typed!

Just don't add salt to any cooking and if you give gravy just give a little bit.

don't spend your life worrying about how many grams of this and that you are supposed to give them or not give them. just be sensible

Can't ever remember our parents poring over the contents of stuff counting the grams of salt etc - obviously since DS is only 11 months I try and keep it under 1g a day - but I can't calculate everything

eastendgirl · 10/10/2006 17:20

the thing is I started adding salt to cooking, I thought that at 3 you could, and he has crisps more and more frequently!!! well never mind...

I guess the difference is that our parents probably didn't buy loads of ready made stuff
it does add up fast if you think about it;
breakfast - cereal
morning - biscuit with cheese spread
lunch- bread, butter, peanut butter, or pate, or baked beans
afternoon - fruit bar
tea - carton of soup, fish fingers, or pizza, or pasta with sauce
EVERYTHING on that list has added salt in it
(plus of course vegetables, fruit etc)
