I pity those boys in blue I really do, you have to be completely humourless these days.

A couple of dh's ex-colleagues came to visit for the weekend. One had been on a Disabled Discrimination Act course (they always have them when something new comes up).

They were asked what they would with this scenario ......

An officer arrives late for his early shift. Another officer says to the late comer 'was it backitis this morning?'

dh's mate said he wouldn't do/say anything. Apparently the correct procedure is to reprimand the wise cracker because the late person may have a genuine back problem!!!!

FGS!

Dominiconnor- you have seemed to have lost the ability to debate in adult manner.

statstic will never show a decrease in 'racial ' incidents because the system has opened the flood gates for all to complain. there is I would imagine an increase in racial incidents because of the procedures put in place. This incidents include complaints agianst the police , as the word 'racial' only has to be mentioned and Professional standards Dept are on then down on the officer like a ton of bricks.

When I did my inital Communtiy awareness or Diveersity training, ther were members of the public there both black and white. The training was supposed to be constructive but it infortunately became destructive because of the abuse as police officers we got. The public didn't want to hear our side of things and wouldn't enter in a meaningful discussion.

Both sides have to work together to get over these issuse but when pople come out and say its 'bollocks' then I just close my ears to what they have to say and walk away...

dh is a civilian in the police, his chief inspector (i think..a high ranking officer anyway) came into his office around the time of the local elections and told the team he would be voting bnp. he was very serious too. the stuff dh tells me about what goes on at his station really makes my blood boil.

I agree mummydear, the training needs fixing, but I'm amused by the "floodgates" remark.
Yes, it's a hard job trying to stop people doing bad things, and that includes risks fat old gits like me don't experience.
There are rules which simply get in the way.

But, that's quite different from the Police breaking the law themselves. Yes, I can understand taking "short cuts" to get the bad guys, or when some drunk spits at you, losing your rag and dropping him hard.
But when the police actively whip up racial tensions by persecuting target groups, then there is a problem.
