i use asda and always found them very good

AnguaVonUberwald · 06/10/2006 14:16

ocado - Waitrose home delivery service. Not necessarily the cheapest, but definitly the best

TortUREoiseChamber · 06/10/2006 14:17

I use Tesco and have not had any problems with them.
It also depends who delivers in your area.

mancmum · 06/10/2006 14:21

ocado without a shadow or hint of doubt... food comes from warehouse so when you order it, they know they will have it and it is fresh and not just pulled off the shelf the day before it goes off by some uninterested 12 year old...

always get 100% of what I order, delivery slots are 1hour not 2 so less waiting time, some of the substitutions I have had from Tesco have been amazing (prawn sandwich instead of sushi?!!!)

and the drivers are lovely and bring your bags right into the house...

and the food is fab!!

cece · 06/10/2006 14:23

I useed Sainsbury's once. They were 2 hours late (so arrived after 10 pm). No phone call to warn etc. Most of the meat went out of date the very next day....so pretty useless for when I wanted to use it...

Mimie2403 · 06/10/2006 14:33

I love Ocado. I have also used Tesco and Sainsbury in the past. It really does depend on where you live as in my previous council, Tesco was very good but where I live now, they kept delivering too many alternatives... I've used Ocado for almost a year now and am very happy with them; as said before the delivery men are very friendly and helpful, they always call if they are even just a few minutes late. They often supply a discount code as well or add a new item (free of charge) to the delivery

prettymummified · 06/10/2006 16:19

thankyou, never shopped at ocado but may try and see what theyre like

ocado .. but they're not cheap so don't get boring staples from them ...

GreenSlashedSleeves · 06/10/2006 16:20

I don't think ocado deliver here

SPACEdoutzombieCADET · 06/10/2006 16:25

ocado definitely, i do an ocado shop about once a month and they are fab, ive known the driver to sit outside in the van, waiting because theyve arrived 10 mins before my allocated time slot, they are always very polite, everything is in colour coded bags, last shop i did, i got a free bottle of wine!

janeite · 06/10/2006 17:42

Ocado are certainly the best, though, as others have said, they are more pricey (much more pricey for some things esp fruit and vege). Also their range is more limited than, say, Tesco.

I tend to alternate between them - using Tesco for tins, loo rolls, cereal etc (stuff that they can't send manky versions of basically) and then do Ocado when I don't need as much food and therefore can afford the bit extra on fruit etc. I also make full use of their offers.

Don't use Sainsburys - they are truly dreadful.

MadamePlatypus · 06/10/2006 21:11

I love Ocado because they sometimes put extra stuff in your shopping like chocolate brownies.

MrsSpoon · 06/10/2006 21:15

We only have ASDA or Tesco here. I usually use Tesco because the quality of the fresh produce is better than ASDA's (although I believe this varies from store to store). However when I have used ASDA I have been impressed, when they substitute an item with something more expensive (say something own brand substituted for the same item but branded) they don't charge you the extra, delivery driver was also far friendlier than the Tesco delivery drivers.

trixymalixy · 09/10/2006 12:15

I used to use Tesco, but got really fed up with the crazy substitutes they made (i.e. meat sausages when i ordered vegetarian!!) and the fact that everything seemed to go out of date in the next couple of days.

I haven't had a lot to complain about since I changed to Asda, apart from trying to communicate with the Indian call centre when they gave me a bag of someone else's shopping by mistake.

MegaLegs · 09/10/2006 12:20

should I give them another chance then?

joelallie · 09/10/2006 12:26

I can only assume that it depends on the store that make the delivery then. I use Sainsburys and I've never had a problem. They've even had my delivery brought over by a member of staff in his own car because the lorry broke down and I couldn't accept another time slot. I don't pay a delivery charge for JS as it's over £70 and on a Tuesday. Tesco were appalling...truly awful!

No Ocado deliveries round here as far as I know.... might just check that though

iota · 09/10/2006 12:27

there's an article about this in Good Housekeeping this month - Tried and Tested

Sainsbury's came top with 90/100
Tesco 2nd - 89/100
ocado 3rd - 83/100
asda 4th - 76/100

hulababy · 09/10/2006 12:28

I have used Asda, Tescos and Sainsburys. Now only ever use Sainsburys and on the whole they are good.

Hated Asda, and I just don't really kow Tescos products so found that hard.

We have Waitrose, but no Ocado here

bewilderbeast · 09/10/2006 13:05

Sainsbury's. Free delivery on a tues wed or thurs if you spend over £70. They make a list of food with sort sell buy dates for you so you know what needs freexing/using first. They always pick the longest life for salads etc which tescos never do and they put substitute stuff in different bags so you know which bits to check and send back if necessary. Whenever I use tesco they send most of the stuff with a next day use buy date and always hide the replacements where I can't check them. Plus since I live in a flat and sainsburys delivery driver noticed I was pregnant he notified the depot so that all my goods can be packed suitably for the driver to carry them upstairs for me (which they are not supposed to do. And if you have complaints they are dealt with really efficiently and with immediate refunds of money.
