How much do you spend on birthday presents at parties your kids are invited to?

Title says it all. dd has 8 parties lined up over the next few weeks for 4 year olds. She's been to 2 and I spent about £8.00 on each present but saw some of the other presents and some were obviously much cheaper and a couple more OTT. What's the going rate? dd's party is at the end of this long line of parties so I don't know what'll be spent on her.

Thanks

Waterstones are doing 3 for 2 on all children's books atm. Just bought books for 2 parties DD1 has over the next 2 weeks and DS got a Charlie and Lola book for free.

Might be good if you've loads to buy for.

Usually spend about £7-8 but have spent more if I'm friends with the mum.

About the same as Bozza.

If they are just friends from school, I normally spend £5-£10. I will spend a bit more on friends children.

Galaxy - they are addictive aren't they. I find myself buying books for DD (esp from Red House) that are on offer (classic ones) even though she'll be about 5 before she can appreciate them . I just put them away for her. She loves books and I think they make great presents - better than toys imo!
