Our local Tescos is now clamping people who park in disabled and P & T parking who shouldnt. DH says they have already clamped two people who had to pay £120.

Huurah for Tescos!

Yes, our local tesco has asked all parents with children under 5 to display permits this week, so lets see what happens.

I think its a great idea. I once had to walk halfway across the carpark at my local tesco's with DD (3.5) and DS(8wks) because there was no P+T spaces. Another time, A car almost crashed into mine when they rushed to get the last p+t space by cutting across my lane. What made me even more mad was when the driver got out in a Tesco's uniform (without any kids in tow) and went to work! I took the number plate and went and reported her to the manager, felt a bit bad when I heard them calling her over the tannoy! At least I got an appology and she felt very embarassed

Good for you Kid - thats the one thing that gets my goat.We never parked in p+t spaces before we had dd and was livid when on our first trip to Asda with our 3 day old we had to park miles from the door. I think the trolley wardens should patrol the area! It also annoys me that people with children old enough not to need car seats use these spaces but think they can just cos they have a child - the extra room is needed to open doors fully to get strapped in kids out!!!

StripyMouse · 13/04/2004 22:15

wow. We wrote a letter to our local Tescos as we were fed up with parking situation and that so many people misused the allocated spaces with no obvious comeback from the store. They wrote back saying it wasn?t in their interests to start such drastic action as to clamp cars!!
Hercules, where is your store, I feel a second letter to my local store coming on....

littlemissbossy · 13/04/2004 22:32

ooh KID, same sort of thing happened to me!! but at Boots! Two members of their staff parked directly outside store, one in a p&t space and the other in a disabled, when there were loads of regular spaces free!! I do not normally complain, but was so angry, went in to the store and asked for the manager "manager's not available, i'll get the deputy/supervisor person" .. guess who that was ... person who had parked in disabled space!!! I informed her what I had seen, told her that since having baby was v. good customer to Boots and suggested that she move her car immediately. Oh and I also told her she should be ashamed of herself. OMG just realised I am beginning to sound like my mother/mil!!!

This happened to us too at Asda the other day. We were just about to pull into the P & T space when some couple swerved in before us. We sat behind them in the car staring as they got out, looked at us, smiled and walked off. I looked for them all the way round Asda but i couldnt find them, i was REALLY in the mood for a row. People who park in these, and disabled spaces are selfish idiots who need a good kick up the arse. Why sould i have to carry a tiny baby through a wet and windy carpark when those two are happily in the warm? I think they should be clamped yes, definatly. rant rant.

Pennypocket · 14/04/2004 09:31

Grrrr! don't get me started on this one. Had a massive row a few weeks back because when I dared to challenge a lone woman parking in P & T she turned round and said "shut it gobsh*te". Big blazing row followed resulted in another woman joining in against her. Victory was sweet!!
