yes (well dp does) but he's selling off his old comic/record collections

Piffle · 03/10/2006 19:16

I sell of dd's ougrown clothes - usually Boden, usually when the new catalogue comes, so I canbuy more
Depends what you are selling on whether it's worthwhile or not
If you buy and resell on there as I often do, then it does make sense

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 03/10/2006 19:17

we had looked into this a while ago.... but never did anything about it!

Unless you really have the money to buy stock, and are sure it sells well on ebay, its not worth the hassle.

southeastastralplain · 03/10/2006 19:17

he also buys alot from charity shops (old football shirts do well)

SpookyMadMummy · 03/10/2006 19:20

I sell craft stuff on ebay - though have not put any on since school started again. I top it up by going out and doing table top sales and craft fairs so my advice is have a back up plan like that.

sallycinnamon · 03/10/2006 19:20

I sell make up mainly. It's taken a while to build up but its getting to the point where it at least pays for the food bill each month. If you decide to go for it as a way of making regular money you do have to dedicate the time to it- for listing and trips to the post office mainly. I love it and have never been happier. Start off selling things you don't want any more or clothes your kids have grown out of. Then you'll know whether you can be bothered with it or not. I don't think it suits everyone.

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 03/10/2006 19:21

IMO maternity wear sells well. I've considered scouring the charity shops for it and selling it before but even they sell it fast.

I've listed dd's old clothes before. They were all m&s and mothercare bits so good stuff but it went for pittence.

Munz · 03/10/2006 19:30

you know I've thought about the charity shops/thrift shops but is it a bit well u know cheeky to do that?, it's efinatly something i'd be looking at trying to make a fair few bob from - if it paid for the food each month then i'd be v happy.

OP posts:
southeastastralplain · 03/10/2006 19:38

don't see why it's cheeky as you buy them in the charity shop!

StrawberryFULLMoonOWOWOWWWWWWW · 03/10/2006 19:40

if you have the cash tk maxx do 28 dy money back thingy so you could buy em list em for 7 days, if dont sell, take em back for full refund!

Munz · 03/10/2006 19:42

lol strawberry - now that is cheeky! lol - tbh I wouldn't have the bottle to do that! lol - i'm a quite shy type of a person! lol.

I guess everyoen's a winner with the charity shop then - just have to have a good rummage?

I do. It's more or less a full time job that I can fit in around the kids.
I really enjoy it. Mainly childrens clothes-if they don't have tags then you get very little. But it is very time consuming and I go to the post office every day.

books, LPs in great shape, old obscure videos

SoMuchToBats · 03/10/2006 19:56

I sel stuff like grown out of Boden clothes too. They sell well, but I only do it to make a little bit of money from - not a proper income, it's just stuff we don't want any more, and is a good way of recycling it for a small profit.

Munz · 03/10/2006 20:01

do u still pay the fees thou if it oens't sell i'm sure I read thta u didn't.

I used to sell fairly regularly by going around discount shops and then putting things on for what I had paid. Used to make about £30 a week profit on average which was nice just got too tired when got pg with dd. I mainly used to sell childrens toys and dressing up outfits[one of best sellers was a local cheap shop selling spiderman costumes for £2.99 and they were selling for £11 plus each]

Munz · 03/10/2006 20:05

bloody hell nemo - that's a good profit, do u do 7 day listings or shorter?

OP posts:
NastyNemo666 · 03/10/2006 20:06

I tend to do 7days usually finishing on a sunday.
Still sell now but tends to be the stuff the tinkers have grown out of now..still sells fairly well.

NastyNemo666 · 03/10/2006 20:07

it was good profit..was gutted when they stopped doing them..lol
