Oh Joy of Joys! My house smells of wee

Potty training. A week ago. Ok, he's getting the hang of it now and I can't revert back to nappies because that would blow it all! But dd only took a couple of days and she was younger! I bought him 8 pairs of undies and I've just had to dry one pair with a hairdryer because the others are either in the wash or have just been washed - same with trousers! He stinks of wee in general as does the rest of my house, who was it who said that little boy's wee didn't smell? They were talking balls - literally!

Give me heart before I throw in the towel!

Just to get myself out of the unanswered threads so I don't look friendless and sad!

Oh dear Rhubarb keep at it love. So who told you boys wee doesnt smell? Ofcourse it does its made of the same stuff girls wee is! How old is your ds? Mine is 2.5 and he wee and poohs on the toilet in the day just a nappy at night. Just in time for my ds4 who is due in 4 weeks

rhubarb - buy loads more pants, DD1 has about 20 pairs at least, get the cheap ones from Tesco/Asda.

You have my sympathies DD1 seem to be one step forward one back, I was up to 12.30 this morning cleaning carpets.

I agree with sweetkitty - eight is just not enough pairs of pants. I have it on the good authority of a reprobate ex-nun friend of the family that the Queen uses soda water and blotting paper when the corgis and dorgis pee on the Royal carpets btw.

Rhubarb · 29/09/2006 20:30

Right, blotting paper and soda water it is then! He's 2.8 and is making little steps towards training. In the nappies he didn't give a damn whether we changed him or not, I actually think he liked sitting in poo! Whereas this way he doesn notice when he has done something and he has asked a couple of times to go on the potty and looks very pleased with himself when he does something. But we are still having lots of accidents (3 today), and I'm beginning to get paranoid that he is having accidents without me knowing because I can smell wee everywhere!

How long does it take little boys before they gain control?
