What I did is to march ds straight back to his bed each time and then in the morning tell him he must stay in hos own bed. It was hell to begin with as all I wanted to do was go back to sleep but after a few nights it did work.

If he falls asleep straight away, could you not go and get in his bed? He probably wouldn't notice you were gone. I've had to do that a couple of times because mine sucks his thumb and it's really annoying.

jmg1, I had a thought: could you bed him down in your room, but on a separate little mattress or folded futon or something? If dd1 wanders into our room, we sometimes opt for that, as a 'special bed' (we seem to have several old futons around the place, how embarrassing). It would get his snores out of your ear, and possibly be an option for moving him back, as and when your room is otherwise occupied.

Bless them both.
Good luck with the sheet-changing!

Really loud snoring can indicate a tonsil and/or adenoid problem. My DS2 snored like thunder but once he got his tonsils out he was transformed. As for climbing into bed, that will pass. He just needs security. Get hime referred to ENT surgeon by GP. Then he can climb in and you can both sleep

jmg1 my 5yo son often sleeps with me and is a loud snorer. I wear earplugs. I can still hear him but it makes it manageable. I can also hear the younger kids in the room next door if one of them starts crying. The yellow foam ones are the best.( Boots do them)
Good luck.
