Just here for a moan really. We signed, ready for exchange of parts on our first house last week. The vendor had started throwing a wobbly last week, wanting us to exchange on the same day his solicitor rang us to tell us to do so (at 3pm in the afternoon!) Anyway, due to the fact he's been with-holding info on some guarantees of work done
on the house fairly recently......anyway, our lenders wouldn't release our loan until these guarantees were transferred to us, nor would our solicitor release the exchange papers....as we'd be liable if any future problems occured. Long and short, he's putting it back on the market tomorrow if we don't exchange.......theeen our lenders rang us this evening to tell us they're reducing our loan due to us applying for a credit card within the last few months. So, all in all, the whole thing's fallen apart . Sorry to blather on, we'd just been hoping to be well settled by august, when no.2 is due, and now it looks like we wont be......well, not in this house, and it's unlikely in any other either.
Humph! (And it's my birthday.....so I'll da*n well cry if I want to!!!!)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that we'd really really wanted a homebirth, but definitely aren't comfortable doing so in the s*ithole we currently live in .

bugger. So sorry to read your bad news. I am a huge believer in fate and maybe there is a better house with you name all over it just out there waiting for you...The fact that he is withholding guarantees etc. sounds that it could have been dodgy and might be saving you from a nightmare scenario down the road. We had a friend who bought a house and had to replace the roof within 6 months because of bad workmanship. They didn?t have to pay personally as it was covered but they were still homeless and living in awful rented for 6 months...sorry, that is the best i can do to cheer you up! Have a good cry, drink a lot, eat a lot of chocolate and star5t again tomorrow. Good Luck xxx

When is the baby due?

eddm · 07/04/2004 22:51

Oh, poor you, what a nightmare . Sounds like the vendor wanted to hurry you so you wouldn't question the works too closely.
Happy birthday and anyway.

Thanks, that's a good way to look at it. And, also, we can enjoy our weekend in London without worrying about impending moving costs, and, urm, aaand....I'm sure I'll come up with more, given time .
(August 28th BTW, stripeymouse )

Sounds like vendor really just wanted an excuse to put the house back on the market, thinking that prices have gone up. What a greedy So&So!
I am planning Homebirth in a rented house... is it really not an option for you?
