I have just moved my son into his sister's bedroom...

3 bed house, DS 6, DD 4. Since we moved a few months ago DS has slept on the trundle bit of DD's bed. We move him back into his own room, he moves back during the night. They are brilliant mates who argue and fall out like most siblings but they really like each other's company overnight. DD has large room so I have just moved DS's bed into her room (after discussion with them both last night - they were really keen on the idea) and will make DS's room a nice room for guests to stay. He can have the room back whenever he says he wants it...

The only person who isn't overly happy with the new arrangements is DH.

This all sounds reasonable no? I'm not missing anything?

Sounds fine to me too. Why doesn't DH like the idea?

Cant see a problem at 6 and 4. Many, many siblings do this. At 13 and 11 you might have more of a problem though I suspect your children will decide that for themselves sometime in the next half-decade.

Sounds fine to me as long as they are both ok with it. We have a dd and are due a ds. There will be a three year age gap. We currently have two bedrooms so eventually they will share, and will do til we find something three bed we love. We arent rushing though - mentally ive given myself til they are 5 & 8 before I simply buy whatever three bed is in our budget.

Its absolutely fine i would say until the eldest reaches around 10 years old.

Why isn't your husband happy with this - if the kids are happy then what's the crack? Does he not want people staying over?

GeorgesDragon · 04/09/2014 09:10

Thanks all. I am delighted that my kids are big mates and want to share a space with each other Smile

I suspect that DH will have some background issues that he hasn't resolved yet as a kickback from his bonkers parents or moreover - he will be quietly suppressing the fear of his parent's reaction. We still haven't got past his parents being less than impressed by the fact that my DD plays football with DS and all of his mates... Of course this is a massive assumption but I doubt that I am far off the mark Grin
