How much beebies do you let your toddler watch?

My 17mo DS LOVES beebies. I mean, if all else fails when he is getting wingy and I have to cook dinner etc, beebies is almost guaranteed to keep him quite.

But, whenever it's on he kind of turns from being very active to very passive and actually quite zombie like. Great when I need toget stuff done, but I sometimes worry that I let him watch too much of it.

It averages about 1 hour in the morning, 1 in the afternoon. How much do you let your toddler watch? What do you think is an excessive amount? Does anyone think I should try and cut down?

DS2 loves it and it tends to be on quite a lot, but he doesn't just sit staring at it, we talk about it as it's on.

I had really bad morning sickness and let dd have it on much of the day for about 2 weeks, thinking ahh well needs must adn it won't kill her
Now I'm fine and aaarghh weaning her off it
We now stick to bedtime hour
And maybe the odd time if I'm cleaning upstairs (ha ha )

We have it on for about an hour in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening-a little more at weekends.
I see no problem with it to be honest, the quality of programs is pretty good.

I have the same worry, my DS is 22 months and loves tv for him (either cbeebies or postman pat dvd) I would say he watches around the same amount as your LO.

I have spoken to loads of people and they have said if he enjoys it and it keeps him contented then not to worry. He really gets excited when I put it on and does seem to get something out of it.

My mum has assured me that I watched tv while I had a drink etc and I don't think it's done me any harm.

My lo is nearly 2 and I let him have it on in the morning as we're going out and then we have bedtime hour on in the evening. If there is a specific prog on that he likes I'll let him watch it or if I need to cook his tea etc. I think as long as they are getting something out of it and tv is not your childs only activity then it doesn't do any harm. My lo's nursery has 20 mins of tv time each day in the afternoon whilst others are napping and I know of others that do too!!

my dd gets it most the morning atm (am 7 month pg and tend to doze on the sofa all morning) but she is constantly talking about it to me or to the tv so im not too worried, she doesnt have it at all in the afternoon as i feel a little more alive and we do playdough/cooking/painting etc. shes 23 month and can now sing the tellytubby song and can name most the characters to the programs in the morning and presenters (shes very good at talking tho!)

bad i know, but as someone said before when needs must, it'll be on less when i can get up and move around more, get out more etc as atm i tend to faint when i step outside so we'r confined! lol
