Is amazing!!! Went to see him for the last night at Milton Keynes, thought it was awesome. Thought the set was a bit boring but then again i suppose he doesnt have to wow us with fancy sets and costume changes. Total bonus was Max beesley on drums

Does anyone know what that rhyme/poem is that he does, cant remember it all but some lines are:
You called me thingy for 6 years
Told me to join the army
Not me I'm a civilian
ends with: f* you sir kiss my a**

very grateful if anyone knows what it is or where its from

its from his 1st or 2nd album, right at the very end. You think that the cd has finished but it goes onto this poem...starts with "hello sir, remember me.."

JollyRogerMamaG · 20/09/2006 20:16

I saw him at Leeds, fantastic show

Donbean · 20/09/2006 20:19

Life through a lense album, its from there.

mosschops30 · 20/09/2006 20:19

ooh thats it donbean, what the name of the album is it life thru a lens?

Jollyroger, the leeds gig looked great, but busy shocked at how many people were there, I watched it on skyone. I think Milton Keynes is the pits of a venue and £4 for a tray of chips

We did blag our way into the inner circle though so cant complain

I saw him in Milton Keynes on Monday night and Glasgow a couple of weeks ago. He was just heavenly at both but IMHO at the MK gig on Monday (despite a lovely and hilarious appearance by Ant and Dec and Johnny) the crowd were just FAR TOOOOOO BLOOODY QUIET!!! He's got a gorgeous soul but looks like he's needing to take a bit of time out and I someone mentioned to me he's cancelled some up coming dates...

The poem is from (I think) his second album. Very well written, straight from the heart and tells a million stories.

Hail ye!!!!

frumpygrumpy · 20/09/2006 20:22

Ditto the venue, absolutely shockingly bad. Hampden was ace and I could not hear my bad singing for the crowd was soooo noisy. I got in the golden circle and danced my huge pants off .

mosschops30 · 20/09/2006 20:22

Jonny was there last night but no ant & dec . he did sound a bit croaky at the start but soon perked up, do think he's looking old beyond his years though ..... sure just a bit of tlc from me and he would be grand

He and Johnny did their little bit and proclaimed they were the best double act in the country......cue ant and dec dressed the same as for a hilarious lot of antics (bit of PJ and Duncan) and a singalong for all 4. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Yeah, a big bowl of homemade tattie and leek soup and a warm embrace and he'll be just fine. As I said, his soul is huge and you can see it.

JollyRogerMamaG · 20/09/2006 20:25

mosschops, there were 90,000 people at Leeds! We were soooo lucky we bagged SUCH a good spot, about 50 yards from the stage with an uninterrupted view as we were on a tiny hill with nobody in front of us.

Excellent

JollyRogerMamaG · 20/09/2006 20:26

oh I'd have liked to see Ant & Dec

frumpygrumpy · 20/09/2006 20:33

OOooooh uninterrupted views, I'm fainting

mosschops30 · 20/09/2006 20:37

jolly roger not sure i like you anymore all I had in front of me was an arse in a christian aid t-shirt and let me tell you the way she was shoving dd there was nothing christian about her!!!!
I was amazed at how bitchy people were about letting people through and all the shoving and fighting that went on

frumpygrumpy i think his soul is very lonely, its a shame he's not a happy person my mum said he was on a programme about bi-polar last night, but dont know if he suffers, poor baby, i want to tuck him in and read him a story (among other things of course!!!!!)

very of you guys who got into the golden circle. How did you pull that off? I was at Milton Keynes on Saturday, thought it was a fantastic gig. Next time want to be closer though.

JollyRogerMamaG · 20/09/2006 20:41

mosschops

mosschops30 · 20/09/2006 20:43

cori always take your eldest child with you (or borrow one) and find a suckery looking man with wrist bands and say 'my daughter cant see from where we are and she's really quite scared back there ..any chance ...) blah blah works every time, we were in take that inner circle too with gen admission tix

I had the enormous luck to be in the hospitality tent both times....luck doesn't happen often for me but god, when it did......

I saw that program last night, hugely interesting, its on again next tuesday night. Robbies bit was tiny (eh, bit on the programme just to clarify!) but I'm guessing he'll be on again.

I'm full of admiration for anyone on that programme who feels they can come on and talk about it.

mosschops30 · 20/09/2006 20:46

agree fg, the more people that talk about the less stigma there will be for those who suffer with a horrible disease.

frumpygrumpy · 20/09/2006 20:50

yeah! and the more we get to listen to those dulcit tones

Tutter · 20/09/2006 20:53

sorry to say i thought last night's concert was a huge disappointment. i mean he's still lovely and all, but in terms of energy, passion, voice, performance, crowd-pleasing jinx etc, he was only in second gear. i was at knebworth and thought he was amazing back then, but not last night.

maycontainstress · 21/09/2006 09:13

I saw him on the first MK date. He was perfectly polished but the crowd seemed so lame and subdued, we had an ubercool couple in front of us who were just too cool to move a muscle. Dance! Damn you.

For the money, it was a great night, although the venue was hell to get out of, pure hell.

cori · 21/09/2006 20:34

what night was the first show at Milton Keynes?

cori · 21/09/2006 20:36

He said the Thursday night crowd were like a 'saga holiday group'. I was actualy quite surprised at the number of middle aged women there. ( being not quite middle aged myself)

CheekymonkeysGreatestHits · 21/09/2006 21:39

We saw him in Leeds and I didn' think he had his Knebworth spark - still good but you know when somethings not quite right with him.
£5 for a Jacket Potato with a tablespoon of beans! Glad I was organised and took a picnic!

alp · 21/09/2006 22:09

oh my goodness I am now crazy about robbie.........I nearly got tickets off ebay for the last night but hubby reigned me in and said 'we have a 3 year old that you are suposed to be looking after, you have to go to work tomorrow and you are married to me!!' I went on Saturday night and jumped up and down sang my heart out and dreamed of Robbie coming round for a cup of tea

cori · 22/09/2006 14:23

I wasnt at Knebworth , but i dont think you can compare his performance there to what we have all seen. This is after all a world tour which is taking over a year. Knebworth was just a few nights wasnt it?
