best way to sell shares?

this is going to sound dim but I have some shares and we're thinking of selling them to pay off a couple of debts (of about £2k). What's the best way of selling them? I want to get the best price so is there a way of monitoring the daily price and selling when it's highest?

try Financial times website for monitoring prices(look under Markets and Funds). Share brokers can charge high commissions, so it is worth finding a dealer that just charges a flat fee. The Motley Fool website has info on flat fee internet share dealing services - DH uses IMIweb, part of Halifax.

I have had Sharepeople recommended to me and have just opened an account with them. I'm told that their charges are competitive - it will cost me c. £17.50 to sell the shares I have. I have US shares to sell so it will be different from your situation as I think they end up on a virtual system (DWAC?) - not exactly sure how this works - so I don't have to pass paperwork on, but it may be worth a call as they sound very efficient.
