How ridiculous is this?

My colleague has just had a call from his dw... she has just collected their 4yo ds from school together with a letter that his ds had to sign to say that he wouldn't surf for porn (amongst other prohibitions) on the school's internet system.

Madness!

He is 4 years old, just started school, he can't read, he can't sign his name and he has no idea what porn is.

Beaurocracy gone mad imho.

Christ on a bike, the world has gone mad.

Fairly mad, as why would kids be left unsupervised to surf the net at school? Also, have the school not heard of 'parental control' type measures to use on the internet? I wonder if any 4 year olds didn't sign?!

i think it is one of those things that they just have to do what ever the age.
like the time the dhss asked me if dd was preganent (filling forms in over phone) ffs she is severe sn and 11

anniediv · 18/09/2006 16:11

Ha ha yes, and when I took dd2 for her tonsils out (age 4) I was advised to discourage her from smoking in the preceding 24 hours!

Sadly, it is just one of those things that has to be done by schools. Often for younger ones it is just part of the parent home agreement.

As many schools have discovered, parental controls on computers in schools are rubbish. It is a doddle to bypass them and for porn to appear on the screens.

I can understand that they are covering their arses but asking a 4yo (or an 11yo with SN) to sign something they don't understand, when they can't even write???

x posts Hula sorry

My dd was given medicine which stated she must not drink or smoke (she was 18mo!!) but that was generic advice and not aimed directly at her... made me chortle though, I was thinking, "That's her plans for the weekend buggered then!"
