What would you do if it was happening at your school.

Surely all you have to do is start a rumour in about one of these women having nits or fleas? Isn't that how playgrounds work?

twinsetandpearls · 17/09/2006 20:16

We used to have an ice cream van peddling chocolate and cans of coke to our schoolkids and the staff picketed the van until he left

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 20:57

interesting, freckle.

I was assuming that they are doing some sort of mark-up, in which case, I'd think they would need a vendors license, surely?

On that scale-I mean, thats a business. Its hardly a personal arrangement to go down to the chippy when there's 100 kids involved.

Hmmm

Surely its analagous to a shop selling any good-there's a manurfacturer (the chippy) and a retailer (the shop) and the shop needs to meet certain standards, especailly where theres food/children involved.

Oh god I hope i am right, I would love to see them in court up against Trading Standards.

hulababy · 17/09/2006 21:01

I'd tell them if they don't like the school rules - go find a different school with rules about food/lunch time they do like.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 21:03

yes, they could get a real milkround type thing going on, couldn't they? The Richard Bransons of south yorkshire.

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 17/09/2006 21:05

I'd spread the rumour that if you eat the sort of food they're fetching, you too will end up looking like them.

Really, their appearance ought to be enough of a motivating factor for the average vain teenager. It's really remarkable that the kids haven't made the connection.

ssd · 18/09/2006 16:48

give us a picture of them, and where is the school?

where did you hear all this?

hulababy · 18/09/2006 16:48

It's been on the national news. Also on our local news. It is at Rawmarsh, in Rotherham.

hulababy · 18/09/2006 16:51

The story is here . Picture doesn't show mum's face though. Apparantly they have now had a meeting with the head teacher.

Ah, wait...click on:

The mums are on there

Their excuse that they are only giving the children what they want is stupid. Are they also supplying cannibis or heroine? Would they if the children requested it? I know that's an extreme example but children often want things that they shouldn't have and they shouldn't get them just because they want them.

Freckle · 18/09/2006 17:29

Sorry, that should be heroin. Not suggesting that it is bad to want SuperWoman.

3andnomore · 18/09/2006 17:45

Well...
this is from the article...
"But Ms Critchlow insisted it was not just about promoting junk food as they had several orders for jacket potatoes and salad sandwiches alongside those for burgers and fish and chips. "

Well...int he article it says that this was prompted by the shorter breaks and Kids not having time to eat...if this was so...then why not only take orders for healthy foods

I m not surprised they are from South YOrkshire.

They obviously feel threatened by someone challenging the shit they feed into themselves and their own kids.

kiskidee · 18/09/2006 18:07

these are the same types of women who will lie to the school to get their kids out of homework, sports, detention and some even go as far as assaulting staff either verbally or physically.

no surprise that this school has between 30 and 40 % of gcse's from a-c.

I think if they want to feed their own children crap then that's kind of understandable, and unfortunately their perogative .. but to take orders from others without their parents' consent is amazingly crass

idiots

kiskidee · 18/09/2006 18:14

i'm happy to generalise away. i've seen their types before.

Freckle · 18/09/2006 18:17

I did say heroin was an extreme example. My point was that would they supply whatever the children asked for simply because it's what they want?

Blandmum · 18/09/2006 18:17

twiglett, but even if they restrict themselved to feeding just their own kids they are 'telling' their kids, 'You don't have to follow school rules'. Which I think is a stupid thing to do.

How pissed off would we be, if we said something to our kids and our dh/p came along 5 minutes later and undermined out rule?

Pretty pissed off I'd think

Twiglett · 18/09/2006 18:20

you're right mb .. but face it .. they're not inordinately bestowed with grey matter in the first place

Thomcat · 18/09/2006 18:25

Pelt them with the offending vegetables they are so against.
Actually scrap that, that's too good for them.
I'd dunk their heads into a huge vat of fat, chip fat, over and over again. Then I'd force feed them the crap they are peddaling every meal for a month. Think they'd get the message

Twiglett · 18/09/2006 18:25

are you due on TC?

Twiglett · 18/09/2006 18:26

Greensleeves · 18/09/2006 18:27
