It's aimed at little girls and the message on the front is 'YOU WISH'.

no but I got a brill one saying "what are you looking at" very apt as dd is sn

TinyGang · 17/09/2006 10:12

It's so sad isn't it? The child is the 'joke' because she or he doesn't really understand (at least hopefully not).

I've noticed how the playboy stuff seems aimed at much younger girls - all they see is a little bunny and pink sparkly stuff.

This thread has just prompted me to take a pair of scissors to a t-shirt that dd1's stepmother bought her. It said "It's all about me. You should know that".

It's now in four pieces in the bin. I will feign ignorance if asked where it is.

Am I wrong?

dmo · 17/09/2006 10:46

i have boys
but i think little girls are forced to grow up fast with the clothes on offer
i'm not saying they should wear pretty party dresses with bows till their 16 but clothes as you decribe are far too much
just looked in argos the other day a whole page of the play boy bunny stuff which is aimed at children

Moomin · 17/09/2006 10:49

just horrible
I started a thread yesterday because I was wondering if I was weird for not liking the fact that dd1 who was 5 was given 3 sets of make-up by people who really should know better imo!

my friend is a TA at a primary school and they had to write to the mother of one 7 year old for letting her wear thongs to school!

2shoes · 17/09/2006 10:55

what about when they are 11
dd has sn and has a t shirt saying all about me as I thought it summed her up (in a nice way)
she also has one saying i eat boys for breakfast.
I thought they were ok.
I wouldn't put them on a tot though
have I got It wrong
I find it so hard as she isn't like "normal" 11 yr olds and I refuse to buy her the Tarty clothes I see but where can I get girls clothes for her that are not Tarty
answeres PLEASE i am stuck on this

I know 2shoes - sometimes it's hard to find anything nice.

I don't mind quite trendy things, I don't even object to makeup and perfume in small doses. H&M have been quite good in the past for us, also LaRedoute.

My dd's are tall for their ages though, so the choices seem to be more in the older age ranges for them these days, and it's the overtly sexy references that seem ott imho.

I'm sure you haven't got anything wrong at all - I rather liked your reasons for the 'what are you looking at' one actually. Did you see a recent thread linking to some clothing with great slogans for those with sn? I've been trying to find the thread again, but either it's gone awol or I'm not looking in the right place.

Tinygang, I work with adults with multiple learning and physical disabilities. Saw a great T shirt the other day..."Keep staring I might do something interesting" !!!

2plus2plus1 · 17/09/2006 22:43

Nearly brought one for nephews 3rd birthday with the slogan

"I'm my sisters worst nightmare".

I thought that was apt - but I don't like the ones that are aimed at teenages/children that think they are teenagers.

dmo · 17/09/2006 22:44

i think the
i eat boys for breakfast is a little to old for her imo but i dont know her is she an old 11
if not i would leave tops like that to 19yr olds

i have boys and they wear surf stuff billabong etc but i hate tops with slogens on and cartoon tops, my son loves superman so i got him superman pj's that it not for outdoor wear but thats me

2shoes · 17/09/2006 22:49

trouble is she does lol
know what you mean not my best buy she loves it though
WILL bin it at end of warm weather

dmo · 17/09/2006 22:58

dont be silly if she loves it

NotAnOtter · 17/09/2006 23:01

personally i would not my daughter
(11) in that top but its a free world
i dont like tops with writing on full stop

2shoes · 17/09/2006 23:04

it's one of those funny things because she is sn and in a wheelchir people just see it as funny I think it would be totally different on what I call a walking/talking child
hope that makes sense
dd kind of lives in a different world as she is never without an adult
