How do I sew long seams in satin without it wrinkling?
I'm guessing at...
1.Need a 'walking'foot thingy on the machine.
2.Looser tension/bigger stitches.
3.Use a zigzag stitch.

Anyone have a definitive answer?

The title should read dressmakers and people who sew.

Not sure about tension issues (my machine has a tension problem, somewhat like me) but I would recommend a ballpoint needle for silks and satins, they really help with snagging and wrinkling up.

The handbook to my ancient machine says for Satin:
Thread: 50 Mercerised/60-80 cotton, Pure silk, Synthetic thread
Needle size: 14 (the smaller the size the thinnner the needle)
Machine stitches per inch: 12-15.
The "feed dog" on the throat plate - the ^^ thing below the needle - should be just above the level of the throat plate.
The pressure level of the pressure foot should be on a lower setting (lighter pressure)
Lastly, you should do a trial seam to check thread tension: If thread loops lie under the seam the needle tension is too loose; If thread loops lie on upper surface of seam the needle tension is too tight. (You can also try correcting the bobbin thread tension if you still can't get it right)
I hope this makes some sense - best thing to do is to do lots of trial seams on waste material until you get it right.
