Would like to start selling things on Ebay. Have been a member for quite some time, but only as a buyer. Have set up a sellers account, but haven't got as far yet as putting any items on, as trying to sort out my camera first.

My question is, when people pay you by paypal - how do you receive the money?

I know you have to pay charges etc, but wondered what happened to the money - read as far as they will send you an email etc. to say person has paid, and then you post out goods, but what happens then?

Thanks!

Hi Tippytoes,
I just had my first eBay selling experience this week!
First you need to upgrade your Paypal account. I can't remember what it's called - something like Premier, not the business one. It's free to do this.
The money from the winning bidder goes into your Paypal account and then you click a number of buttons and fill bits in for Paypal to send it into your chosen bank account.
Paypal do two testers first to check they are sending funds to the correct account and once you OK that, it sends the winners money to your bank account.
Probably haven't explained fully but that's the general gist of it. Genius eh?

you have to pay the ebay listing fee too, click under my account and it'll tell you how much

Thank you - wondered how it worked! Better go in and try to upgrade my paypal account now then.

Cheers!

i didnt know you could transfer paypal to bank without paying their charge?
i thought £50 and under was charged, not much tho?

Tippytoes · 14/09/2006 14:40

I think you do have to pay?? a small amount - LucyLemon was saying it was free to upgrade your paypal account, but think the charges are still incurred if you are using it. Thats what I can make out anyway.....

...you pay a small charge for anything under £50.... though you can wait until the amount mounts up and then choose to transfer to whichever bank account you want to with no transfer fee....Paypal still charge a nominal amount for each transaction received under £50 though....I've found it really easy.

What's your trader ref love to take a look of what you're selling..have become a bit of an ebay addict over the last couple of months both as a buyer and seller...good luck !!

Thanks for the info. I haven't put anything up for sale as yet, but will let you know when I do shortly.
