if you do have you ever been brave enough to use the tosating cage thing to make a toasted cheese sandwich... as thhis is what it is supposed to be for but i can't bear the thought of the possible mess that the cheese would melt all the way down...?

anyone tried it ? and what were the results???

no I bought toasta bags as they were much cheaper.

We use ours all the time. I've never had a problem with the cheese falling out of the bottom as it isn't as hot as a proper toastie maker, so the cheese doesn't melt as much.

The only problem I had with it was that if you butter the outside of the sandwich as you do with a normal toastie maker, you get butter on the top of the toaster.

yes - and lovely! Not like the 80s sandwich makers, where you buttered all over. These are more like hot sandwiches, IYSWIM. We go through periods of having toasted ham and cheese ones. Yummy!

Yes - like trixy says the cheese doesn't melt as much. My dh often toasts leftover cheese rolls from his lunch in it. I use the sandwich cages to toast malt loaf (otherwise you can't fish them out).
