I could spit I'm so angry and embarrassed

I was just lying on our bed, naked as we've just been in the bath together, breastfeeding my baby when someone stared right in through the window.
I had the fright of my life and am a bit upset about it. We were just basking in the lovely warm sunshine, then I ended up jolting us both and dashing to close the cutains as they are still out there.
It looks like our neighbours are having their facade painted and they have climbed onto our kitchen extension. I hadn't been told this work was going to happen or that they would be climbimg on our roof to do it. I am so angry but want to make sure I'm not being unreasonable before I phone them to complain.
I'm sure you can't really offer advice I just wanted to moan really.

I would go round there and if she still doesn't apologise or show any sympathy to you, point out that you could refuse to have their workmen on your property. It might make her think a bit.

Good one caboose!

Blu · 11/09/2006 12:55

What are some people like!?!

sorrell · 11/09/2006 12:56

Paperwork papershwork. Your extension, your property. They do NOT have the right to climb on YOUR property without your permission. Bloody cheek.

sorrell · 11/09/2006 12:56

And yes, point out that while you are at home with the baby you don't want workmen near your bedroom window FULL STOP.

fairyjay · 11/09/2006 12:58

You need to send a letter by recorded delivery saying that they have no right of access over your property without prior arrangement, and any further incidents will be treated as trespass.

You need to make it very clear that they cannot walk over you.

Cheeky cow!

LieselVonTrapp · 11/09/2006 13:02

They cant climb onto your extension without your permission. You also have a good case of privacy invasion.

wartywarthog · 11/09/2006 13:04

gowon gowon! tell us what happens!

AvaLou · 11/09/2006 13:08

Oh how awful. I can really empathise as some of my best memories are breastfeeding my DCs sprawled on the bed in the sunshine.

And they are still up there? Any decent person would have stopped working and gone down and ensured with the neighbour that you knew they were going to be there, not just carried on working regardless.

tissy · 11/09/2006 13:10

how about just leaning out of the window, or shouting up from your garden, and telling the builders," I'm sorry you'll have to get down from there, I haven't given permission for access and you're trespassing!" If they don't, call the police!

That should force the neighbour to come round to you and beg for permission, or they'll have to pay up for scaffolding!

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 11/09/2006 14:46

Did you actually tell your neighbour that the guy had been peering in?

I would have still give the painter hell personally. Tell him he should have knocked first to let you know when he was starting work, whether or not your neighbours had informed you. Hopefully he'll mention it to the neighbours and they can all feel guilty together.

ruty · 11/09/2006 15:12

your neighbour sounds like horrible. I would be fuming too.

quanglewangle · 11/09/2006 15:20

He might not have seen you - if the sun was shining in your window all he might have seen was his own refelection.

Still trespassing I know, but it might seem less serious with the embarrassment factor removed...? And maybe not worth falling out with the neighbours over?
