  1. I have some Avacardos in the fridge - how do I make a face pack with them?

  2. My washing machine smells dispite the filter being cleaned, and the powder bit and having some stuff put in it that supposidly stops the smell - what do I try next?

  3. How can I get crayon/pen/felt tip off my wall paper - have tried the usual (rubbers, bread, special sponge thingy)

  4. How can I pursuade DS2 to give up his dummy without facing days of tantrums (hes 2.5)

Thank you!

  1. Squash them, and then mix them with something else? No idea sorry!
  1. Will watch this as I'd like to know too. I rent mine and in the past I've just 'upgraded' and got a new machine when it's got like that

  2. I've heard WD40 (sprayed on to a cloth first) is good for stuff like that

  3. We're going to wait for DDs 3rd birthday (in November) and then tell her they have to go to another baby now and also try a bit of bribery by giving her something in return. it's not out of the blue, we've started 'warning' her now. With DS2 we 'forgot' to take them on holiday, and the excitement of being away made up for the loss of Dummy. He was only 17 mths though.

  1. mash them and spread them on
2. ? 3. bleach and a cotton bud? 4.?
KBear · 08/09/2006 19:27
  1. Dunno!
  1. Run a boil wash through your machine once a week. Might help. Is it an old machine?

  2. Agree with serenity - WD40

  3. Leave it out for FC in exchange for pressies. He has three months to get his head around it!

fuzzywuzzy · 08/09/2006 19:28
  1. run a maintenance wash, put in the regular amount of powder or white vinegar and run the hottest cycle without any clothes in.

  2. Hair spray

Dummy wise I can help you, I got this from MN, was convinced it wouldn't work but it did.

You tell your ds that tomorrow is a big day because he is going to throw his dummy away all by himself because he is officially a "big boy". You remind him of this big day as a sort of celebration and say that after he has thrown away his baby dummy he gets to go into town and choose a present for big boys only to replace it.

The day arrives and you watch as he throws his dummy in the bin - no you cannot retrieve it later! You make a song and dance about it, clapping and shit like that. Then you take him to town, to the pocket money section of Woolies or wherever and he gets to choose something else.

He will not ask for his dummy again. I was sceptical, I thought she'd ask for it that night, but she didn't and the dummy was gone forever. She still remembers the day she turned into a "big girl" and what present she got!

  1. Avocado & Honey Mask
2 tablespoons of avocado 2 tablespoons honey 1 egg yolk Mash up the avocado, add the honey and egg. Mix it all together. Apply to face for 20 mins then rinse 2. No idea 3. Think you can use hairspray but will check on that one. 4. Never had to face that dilemma but most children grow out of them before it becomes a problem (speaking from a dental point of view).

ideas for removing crayon from walls .

Rhubarb · 08/09/2006 19:34

Crayon the rest of your wall then you don't see the offending marks!

jabberwocky · 08/09/2006 19:37
  1. add borax to the wash?
Rhubarb · 08/09/2006 19:41

Ask him first though!

Smile

Dont know about the first two but....
3.) Carpet cleaner gets stuff of wallpaper.
4.) Wait till Xmas and leave them under the tree on Xmas eve for Santa to take to all the babies who dont have any. Then he wakes up Xmas morning - no dummies but hundreds of pressies.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 08/09/2006 21:53

Thank you

Dont know if DS2 will understand the dummy stuff but I get nagged for him still having one so worth a shot....

Tamba dont be nagged. My SIL was in tesco and somebody said "when is your DD going to give up the dummy" and SIL said "what f*ing business is it of yours". I always wish I had the guts to do that.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/09/2006 22:15
  1. Eat the advocados and improve yourself from the inside out
2. Buy a new one. 3. Wet wipes. Works every time 4. Tell him that the Dummy Fairy is going to come and take his dummy, and if he is good and lets dummy fairy have it, he will get a special present. (Am guessing you get tantrums if he loses his dummy anyway??? You havent lost anything, in which case).
  1. Why do you let these things build up and build up that you have to ask all at once???
VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/09/2006 22:16

Leisel....surely not???

Loshad · 08/09/2006 22:28

VVV is right - for no 3- baby wipes work brilliantly.
no 1 must add french dressing - yummy, pass me some please.

PrettyCandles · 08/09/2006 22:31

Soak a couple of tablespoonsful of porridge oats in equal volume of water overnight, following day mash with avocado and a generous teaspoonful of honey. Rub onto face, lick the spoon and reapply frequently around the lips . When you wash it off, do so over a bowl unless you have a drain strainer thingy in the basin, and rub your face as you wash to gently exfoliate and stimulate the skin.

Haven't done this in ages, it's yummy and wonderful for the skin...hmmm, I've got all the ingredients...

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 08/09/2006 22:37

Tamba shouldn't you be SEPTamba by now as someone sudgested on a previous thread??!!!

SewingMadMummy · 08/09/2006 22:47

Dont ask about housekeeping/avocdos but I successfully weaned dd1 off her dummy by telling her that the easter bunny wanted them for the babies.. Tried father christmas but she said nooooo!!
