for you ds if he was only 2.7 for all his playgroup friends etc(not that he really has mates, but he says hi to them all!!).

I think we should, also to get to know the local parents as both me and dh don't know many people in the area, but dh thinks its going to be a waste of time (tbh, this is also in my mind)!!

TIA

I had one last year. DD1-5 DD2-3. All their frineds loved it and I had a great time too. I got to know some parents. I plan to have one every year. I want my dc and their friends to know that my house is somewhere they can have a good time. If I want them to be comfortable in my houes as they get older I have to start now.
Go for it, you'll have a great time.

I think it's a brill idea!
We always had Halloween parties at my house as a child, everyone had an excellent time, I do it now for ds and dd, it's the best party of the year! dd wasn't even 2 the last one we had and she had a great time, so I'd say go for it.
Just as long as you don't make it all too spooky and scare them all

Ds (same age) is going througha being scared of ghosts phase atm, so definitely not.

But a party witha vague theme would probably be OK.

Im thinking of all the dc dressing up in costumes (any type really), get some cakes decorated for halloween etc. More a part, just on halloween, rather than an halloween party!

Need more ideas!!

FillyjonktheFluffy · 07/09/2006 20:51

apple bobbing
doughnuts on strings
pea (gunge) soup
gloop (cornflour) with things in it for them to feel
stories round a fire (make one out of wood/shiny paper if you don't have an actual one)
treasure hunt outside in the dark
beer for adults

Pin the boo on the ghost!
(very simplistic white ghost shape with 2 round black eyes and a smily black mouth - they have to stick the mouth in the right place blindfold.

jofeb04 · 07/09/2006 20:54

thanks for the games etc, but do you think a 3year old(oldest child there) and 2year olds are old enough to do them?

hmmm. The apple bobbing might stretch the younger ones I suppose but I think the rest would be fine. (my kids are 1 and 3, and I do stuff like this with them)

Though if I'm honest I don't give my kids donuts...or beer...
