ds has stayed up to see this moon thing. We have clear skies but I can't see the moon! Where is it?

We're in Norfolk. Any idea which direction I should be looking?

I think you may have missed it cupcakes, sorry.

I found this

"Visible at moonrise. Starts at 18:05 UT and finishes at 19:37 UT. Maximum at 18:51, 18 per cent of the moon will be covered by the earth's shadow.
To see anything at all, you will need a flat eastern horizon and very clear skies. Most of the eclipse will take place at a very low altitude."

on Johnnie Walker this morning he said there was a lunar eclipse (I think - was not listening too well) which would be best seen at 8ish tonight. Apparently it is different colours (or summat)

ah, thanks Frayed. ds is a bit disappointed now but at least pleased that he saw the 'first star'.

Oh, hang on, can you really not see the moon?

It is right outside now and part of it looks like it's missing although it could be cloud.

I'm in Kent looking east-ish.

yes! we've just seen it! dh went out to walk the dog and rushed back and got ds. Wearing his dressing gown and slippers we took him further up the road to where there is a gap in the buildings and we could see it there - it is so low. Saw the missing top. ds very much impressed and enjoyed his nighttime adventure.
