postal orders you can just cash in at post office . dont need to pay them into bank and wait to clear i dont think

sweetmonkey · 06/09/2006 16:28

can you look at the sellers other items to see if he is still selling? was it alot of money?

Scoobydooooo · 06/09/2006 16:34

I done this exact thing because my paypal was not working i sent off some postal orders & got totally ripped off, i paid on the beginning of august opened a dispute with ebay & because it was to sperate things i brought which came to £26 for both & neither was over £15 i can not make a claim....

I think ebay is crap these days & i also think paypal is, you are not covered at all & people know this, they are just ripping people off left, right & centre in the last 6 weeks i have lost £26 & am now having to open another dispute for £27 it's ridiculous.

There is nothing you can do though, did you send the postal orders recorded delivery or do you have proof of posting?

I have filled in a p58 form & sent it away to find out if the postal orders have been cashed but not much else i can do apart from sit back & let someone take my money.

maybe you can do what scoobydooooo did though and request to see if the postal orders have been cashed. you poor thing
its so frustrating when simple things turn into hassle

Scoobydooooo · 06/09/2006 16:51

But you can open a dispute with ebay, open the dispute then wait for her to reply, if she does not reply after 10 days you can esculate the dispute to a claim because yours is over £15.00 keep your receipt for postage too, sometimes when you open the dispute it pushes people to sort it out, other times they are just totally arses & think they can steal your money

Scoobydooooo · 06/09/2006 16:52

I am still waiting to see if mine have been, its takes 2 weeks apparently grrrr i would go to your post office & get the form now & send it off to find out.

This doesn't help much, but if its a crossed postal order, you cant cash it at the post office, it has to be paid into the bank (as i found out the other day thinking I would cash it and pay the postage out of it, not taking any other money with me!). I thought you didn't need to wait for it to clear though, as the post office aren't lieky to have cheques that bounce?

When i was selling on ebayer a buyer sent me a crossed postal order and it took the same amount of time to clear that a cheque does, silly i know as the p/order has obviously been paid for therefore will not bounce but that is how it works.

I bought something off of ebay a while ago and it took 3wks from when i won to when it finally arrived it all depends on how often the seller posts his/her items. I would give her the benefit of the doubt but if nothing has arrived within the next 10 days then i would open a dispute.
Hope everything gets sorted soon
